Re: WILLY vs North Ballarat
Was quoted in Bulldog magazine, something along the lines of "his attention to detail needs to improve", most likely referring to his workrate both on the training track and on gameday. A guy of his size and pace needs to develop elite endurance to compete at the top and I don't think he's gotten there.
But to be fair to Guy, he has looked very impressive in the 4 games I've seen him play this year, so I hope he has taken on board Rocket's words and is busting his butt to get the most out of himself. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: WILLY vs North Ballarat
I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth and say thanks to Comrade and GVGjr for their incisive reports as usual. I only saw one practice match this pre season agains St.Kilda but feel that I have a reasonable knowledge of our younger players due to both your reports.
That also goes to our other WOOF members too who have taken their time to write up on the matches and training that they have seen. It really is appreciated.Comment

There is a young bloke playing for the reserves that has impressed the two times I have seen him play. I won't mention his name because I don't think he has signed yet but you just don't get to see the players coming through at AFL games now that there is no reserves. Years ago I watched Rohan Smith in the reserves and just knew he was going to be a star.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Thanks, it's good to know the reports are being read and appreciated. I really enjoy going to the games because it's far more fan friendly than going to the AFL games.

Report from Williamstown home page - link
Williamstown played reigning premiers North Ballarat in a practice match at Whitten Oval on Saturday.
Williamstown Coach Brad Gotch was very pleased with the performance of the team and especially happy with the way the team powered away in the second half to kick 14 goals to 6 to win by 66 points.
Sam Reid underlined his improvement with a dominant display as a midfielder and he was well supported by Captain Brett Johnson, Ben Jolley, Patrick Rose, David Stretton and Xavier Gotch.
Up forward Scott Welsh displayed great touch and confidence to kick 5 goals and was supported by Jarrod Grant, Ayce Cordy and Matthew Little.
Recruits Ben Davies and Chris Egan performed very well and showed Seagull supporters that they will be key players in 2009.
Ruckman Wade Skipper again played well against North Ballarats key ruck duo Tristan Cartledge and Orren Stephenson.
Bulldog youngsters Guy O'Keefe, Henry White and Malcolm Lynch also highlighted their strong pre season and they have definitely stepped up in their form in 2009.
Up back Scott Meyer, Jason Cloke, Luke Cartelli and Mitchell Keddell were strong contributors whilst Andrejs Everitt and Stephen Tiller took their demotion from the Bulldogs in the right fashion and played extremely well.
Cam Wight played a very consistent game whilst young ruckmen Jordan Roughead injured his shoulder in the second quarter and did not return as a precaution.
Next week the VFL season commences but Williamstown has a bye in Round 1. Williamstown will play the AIS U/17 side in an AFL curtain raiser challenge match at Etihad Stadium commencing at 11.05am. St. Kilda will play the West Coast Eagles in the AFL match.

Re: WILLY vs North Ballarat
Reid won so much contested ball - an absolute extraction machine, but I wish his kicking was 10% better. Hopefully it will be by years end, because I think he has a role to play for Bulldogs in the next few years. Also loves to give it to the opposition and is very physical - helps that he's built like a brick outhouse.
Reid sounds fascinating from all accounts. Westy was never an elite kick either, and we have some pretty good 'outside' types running around as it is, wouldn't mind another hard in-and-under ball magnet to feed the Hills and Lynches.Comment
