I remember when i started following them Cowboy Neale was coach and Blight was coach of Woodville, an ex bulldog player i was living with got cleared to Woodville and they were playing Centrals at Elizabeth.
I saw this skinny kid on a wing , thought he was awesome but too skinny for AFL, his name was Platten.

Also made the mistake of wearing a Southampton shirt to the game, couldnt believe the shit i copped from all the poms that were around.
Centrals were probably mid table in those days but had a sad history.
That was early 80s.
