He actually had a solid game, with his first quarter in particular quite impressive. His disposal was still lacking at times and he made some strange decisions, but he took the game on and provided good rebound from the back line.

In all seriousness, maybe he's found his level.

Casey Fields is windier than Pt. Gellibrand - it turned what should've been a great game of football into a crappy spectacle.

It doesn't help that Willy blazed away too many times and didn't place a premium on taking advantage of having the wind.

Shocking game of football but the more determined side did beat the more talented side.

Absolutely - very impressed with Casey's endeavour.

Willy's forwards gave them nothing with Rose, Little, Galea and (in particular) Grant barely sighted for the day.

I thought the back line worked hard and the midfield probably drew even, with Skipper having an epic game.

                Re: Williamstown vs Casey Scorpions

The reserves obviously had a massive win and are fit and firing heading into the finals.

Cordy presented through out the day and read the ball well in the windy conditions. He took some really clever marks but couldn't convert kicking into the wind. His work below his knees was top notch, also. He spent a little bit of time in the ruck and some of his tap work, both up forward and in the middle, was very deft. It's the first time I've seen him for a couple of weeks and I was impressed.

Wight was dropped back to the reserves and gave a good showing. He started really well, taking some strong marks across half back and rebounding well. He slowed down as the game wore on, but it was a solid effort. I thought Boumann was good in the seniors, so I can't see him coming up next week in his place.

Jones took plenty of contested marks and looks like a natural centre half forward. He moves well for someone who stands at 195cm and has a good football brain. I'm excited about what he offers and could be a bolter next year after a solid pre-season. Unfortunately his kicking for goal was way off, but even Jonathan Brown has bad days.

Lynch was ferocious with his tackling, winning 3 or 4 holding the ball decisions that put a smile on my face. He was very good in traffic, and in one play in particular - he evaded 3 opponents off the half back line and hit up Jones in the middle - that reeked of class. He lost his feet under pressure a few times which he needs to work on but geez he's got some natural talent. Such a tease.

I thought Mulligan was ok - he provided some rebound and wasn't beaten in contested situations. He made a few handballing errors deep in defence that the coaches weren't happy with, but I thought it was a decent performance.

Shaw worked hard (as he does every week). He took some strong contested grabs, and scrapped pretty hard when the ball hit the ground. I'm still not sure what we're going to do him and Mulligan - maybe the finals will provide a 'whoever performs best gets elevated' type playoff. mjp suggested that we should try and re-rookie both of them - sounds good to me, but if we could only re-rookie one and elevate the other, I'd be elevating Mulligan.

Ogle is on struggle street. The conditions obviously didn't help but he just fumbles too much and panics when he gets the ball, butchering it and putting his team under pressure going the other way. It seems like his teammates only give him the ball as the last possible option because they know he'll make an error. He has a long way to go.

Thanks for the report - Jones sounds exciting. Ditto Lynch - sounds like he's now doing the hard stuff.

Not the most overly surprising statement of the week I wouldn't have thought.

Thanks for the report. Informative and thorough as always.

                          Yes he did.

He was ok, playing back for most of the day with some short stints up forward.

He made an absolute howler at the death, kicking into the man on the mark from a kick out and coughing up a goal.

Thanks Comrade, he will be very important again this finals series especially considering Williams will struggle to get back on the park.
