Williamstown vs Port Melbourne (Round 20)

    Port Melbourne Vs Williamstown
    TEAC Oval, Port Melbourne
    Saturday 29th August

    Seniors - 1:10pm

    B Callan Meyer Tiller
    HB Everitt Cloke Addison
    C Wood Johnson Stretton
    HF Gia Skipper Jolley
    F Welsh Little O'Keefe
    R Roughead Eagleton Ward
Int Stack Boumann Lockwood Langlands White Gotch Davies Rose Lynch Joyce Galea Wight

    Reserves - 10:20am

    B Mulligan Tanner Cravino
    HB Grossman Wight Cartelli
    C Rampe Langlands White
    HF Lockwood Cordy Lynch
    F Joyce Galea Grant
    R Shaw Georgiadis Gotch
Int Lee Miller Muir Sablich Egan O'Shea Ogle Young Daniels Nicolopoulos Jones Isbister

Players in RED who I expect to play for the Bulldogs.

Grant not named in the seniors must be a massive disappointment for him, especially with VFL finals just about to start. Hopefully he has a massive game this weekend and gets himself back in the seniors.

I'd be interested to hear from other Willy Watchers and their thoughts on Grant's likely omission. He had a dirty day against Casey and hasn't shown a hell of a lot in the last few weeks from all reports - is this a good move by Gotch?

Some very interesting names for both teams there Comrade.

Gee that is really disappointing. Hope he responds well. If we are playing him reserves though please play him as a FF not a FP.

Grant put in a poor effort last week and hasn't had a good game for a while so he is paying the price. I wonder how he will respond?
For all of Rockets pre-season optimism that Grant would play a number of senior games this year this doesn't bode well for him. Last season we took some comfort that in that the OP hindered his season but he's been relatively injury free this year and this omission is purely form based.

It always amuses me that they even bother naming Gia, Eagleton etc. when we all know they aren't going to play! Grant should have been dropped allot earlier unfortunately as imo he has had a dissapointing year. I have said time after time that the jury was out with me and it still is.His game last week capped off his season i think. He will find it difficult to get back in as his confidence in himself and with the selectors is shot to pieces! Can they count on him in the finals? I don't think so. He needs to turn his game on its head if he even wants to get close to playing at the highest level! Pull your finger out Grant or is that it?

Yeah what's with that? Why aren't Reid or Picken there in place of Gia, Welsh or Eagleton?
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

In the instance of an extended bench, those on the interchange get named in the Williamstown team.

Reid and Picken are named in the starting 18.

Brewer from Ports senior team is worth a look. Has always looked a very classy rebounding defender with a long, accurate left foot.

From your roving reporter at the ground (via iPhone):

Reserves had an easy win with Cordy looking very good. He did come off at 3qtr time with ice on his knee-hopefully just precautionary. Grant should've kicked 5 but ended up with 2.

Also, good to see Henry White play his best game of the year-clearly BOG.

Seniors game is a slog but Stack has shown some flashes of brilliance. Boumann has been rock solid at full back...

                              Second half about to start.
