Re: Williamstown vs Collingwood - Semi Final
What an ordinary effort from our contigent . Hard to believe after that lacklustre effort [wood aside]that any of that lot would get a guernsey friday night.I find it hard to fathom the piss poor efforts from Hill and Everitt supposedly trying to get a gig in the senior side. Staggered

Struggled to get involved and wouldn't have had more than 15-20 touches. His kicking has let him down in the past two weeks, which is the one thing he should be able to hang his hat on.
Guy has fallen away in the last month, IMO, with the deficiencies in his game becoming very noticeable.

2009 VFL Seniors
Williamstown 0.3 1.4 4.7 7.12 (54)
Collingwood 5.3 7.5 9.12 13.16 (94)
GOALS:
Williamstown: Rose 2 Everitt 2 Cloke Gotch Joyce
Collingwood: Dawes 2 Stanley 2 McCarthy 2 Frost Reid Corrie Bennell Barham Reed Blight
BEST:
Williamstown: Johnson Skipper Jolley Wood Stretton Lynch
Collingwood: Dyas Pendlebury Stanley Frost Blair Reid
Skipper finishes with another solid game.
Wood had a great finish to the year and should go into pre-season with plenty of confidence that a big year is a head of him.
Lynch was busy over the 4 quarters and showed plenty of defensive pressure. He may have secured his spot next year with a good last 3-4 weeks. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: Williamstown vs Collingwood - Semi Final
I saw a bit of the game and thought Lynch was worth keeping on for another year. He's got some attributes that could most certainly play a handy role in our senior side. Perhaps another big pre-season might be able to get him in the mix. With a shallow draft predicted this year, holding onto Lynch wouldn't be a silly move. He's got talent; his last few weeks have been OK.
Wood looked very impressive. I wouldn't be suprised at all if he played 10+ games next season. He's very strong in the air and keeps his feet - something that will go a long way to making him a solid contributor at AFL level. Wood probably started behind the rest of his draft class, but IMO he's caught up with them and isn't too far behind Reid. He's improved quite a lot and if he's able to do that again, there's no reason he can't play as a BP in 2010. He takes the game on and for the most part his skills are OK. I was really encouraged by his game today.
Pretty disappointing that Hill and Everitt didn't fire a shot. Both need big pre-seasons. What is Hill's contract situation?W00F!Comment

His kicking has improved immensely on last year. Some of his long kicks today were absolutely brilliant, considering the tricky conditions.

He's a bash and crash footballer and lacks some finesse, but that should come with experience.
I think he'll play plenty of games next year, most likely coming off the half back line but eventually I'd like to think he'll become a midfielder, using his pace and strength to break the lines.
Anyone else see some Patrick Dangerfield in the way he goes about it?Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: Williamstown vs Collingwood - Semi Final
I was behind the goals at the Willi Road end.
Williams and Everitt moved well but ball use wasn't all that sharp from either.
Stack and Lynch tried hard all the day. Forward structure was nonexistent all day.
Easton Wood played really well, played deep in defence most of the day.
Boumann copped a knock early on, wasn't quite the same afterwards.
O'Keefe struggled to get into the game.
Skipper has had a great season but he's just fallen way too far back in the queue for the role he plays.
Addison has had better days. Hill was downright lazy at times.Comment

He has a habit of undoing good play. In the last quarter he ran hard to take a solid mark only to spray it out of bounds when he was under no pressure.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Williamstown vs Collingwood - Semi Final
Totally. He gets caught with the ball a bit for Willy but I really don't mind because of what he is trying to do. As he develops physically and mentally, he will become a quality carrier of the ball. I really like this kid.Comment
