The rub on why Panos was overlooked in the normal draft was that his defensive pressure as a forward (see Walker.T) was lacking.

How do you see that side of his game now?

    And awesome reviews, well done.

It's certainly not a strength of his but I'd also add his mobility won't win the coaches over either.
I think there is a chance he will improve in the last half of the season because I'm not sure if he is as fit as he needs to be.

Thanks for the reports GVGjr, great stuff.

Seems like Ward will certainly be back next week, and Johnson a chance too.

GVGjr, where do you think Tiller's best spot is going to be? I'm guessing he is one who fits the 'tweener' mould a little, and as such, may struggle a bit to nail down a position. I'm still a fan of his (although obviously haven't seen him play for quite a while) but he really needs to finish the year strongly. I hope they give him another stint up forwards over the coming weeks.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I'm not sure what they should do with Tiller perhaps a stint up forward might be a good tonic for him. My guess is though he is just purely seen as a tall defensive option and with Williams out for a week or two it might be a showdown between him and Everitt.

Just some additional information about Johnsons game yesterday.

Like last week with Ward they certainly worked to a plan with him. 8 minutes on followed by 3 minutes off twice in each quarter allowing him to play out the last 6 or so minutes of each quarter.
He came off with 10 to 15 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

I thought he performed well but the question might be more around if it's worth taking him off to Perth. I would do it but they might play it safe.

Johnno at half time said that assuming he still feels alright over the next couple of days (his soreness usually takes 2days to kick in), he will come back.

Probably not the right thread, but also said Murphy will go forward again once he has regained touch. In fact, that's probably deserving of it's own thread.

                Great reports GVGjr

I'd personally give him a couple more to get cherry ripe - he's been laid low with osteitis and I just think they should get him properly fit so that we can hopefully do some damage when it counts.

And its not like we can afford to carry players against the Eagles, they beat us twice last year, and are coming off a loss to Richmond so they'll be spirited next week you'd think

But I'd also think hard about bringing Johnson in, would it be Johnson for stack?

What Hooper like in terms of defensive pressure? I loved his courage and footy smarts at u/18 level but never really thought he could make it at afl level with his size and shape. We certainly have a need for a small forward who can buzz around and pressure the opposition pace or no pace. They knew the deficiencies in his game when they drafted him but he is still getting the job done at the next level so its going to put pressure on the club to make a decision on him. If they think he isn't quick enough then you would have to ask why we drafted him.
I guess that is a fair assumption but I don't think Panos in near Little's level at the moment.

Regarding Hooper, yes he isn't bad at applying some defensive pressure as a forward.

Stack would be a logical choice but I might go with Brodie Moles.

I thought Stack did some good things too, his gather of a crumb and feed to Eagleton for a goal, his running goal etc.

I have to say I was disappointed with his ability to stick his tackles, I think he gets broken far too often for someone who I dont think should. Stack has to learn to be a tackling machine.

Does either Boumann or Tiller deserve a shot at replacing Williams this week or do we go for a Midfielder and play with the backs we currently have.

Not sure if Boumann is ready yet. I have watched Willi a few times this year and he has played ok. He rarely goes for a mark and mainly fists the ball away. His problem is he kicks too many short passes and doesnt try an option further down the ground, but that will all come with experience.

Perhaps he's just another Tom Williams and doesn't have any confidence in his own ability?
