Moving right along, watched the Willi game and I must say I like the sureness of Tutt when he has the ball in his hands, well balanced and kicks with penetration. Looks like he will be able to fill out well physically.

Vespa could potentially play a Brad Johnson type role with the occasional stint in the middle (will need to have a big preseason). He has footy smarts and kicks the ball a fair distance. This may sound strange however if he does become a regular AFL player, he will have an impact on games, has the ability to make something out of nothing.

Thanks to all for the reports.

Panos doing well at CHB is one that I'm very happy with. I think I may have suggested this move last year, but it sounds like with his improved body shape and movement he is probably now a better equipped player to play this role. Could he yet be our answer for another tall defender?
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Vez is no doubt dangerous by foot and is quite an opportunist but it is his lack of endurance that is of concern. He currently labours and blows very hard from relatively little effort. I fear at the elite level this deficiency would be easily exposed and in turn a defensive liability.

The question for mine is can he improve his endurance to an acceptable level. Is he coming off a low fitness base or is it as good as it gets ?

Daniel Chick also sends his regards. And St Kilda were perilously close to turning McQualter and Eddy into premiership players. Jarryd Blair was pretty good in the role as well. In face you could almost mount an argument to suggest every successful club in the modern era has one of these types.

Great write up on the Foxtel Cup guys, much appreciated.

            Some thoughts...

Panos looked great. Didnt do a heap - but wasnt really called on in such a one-side contest. He impressed me with his kicking - you cant be a player that just drills passes and hits targets with ease. He looked faster than usual and in general looked strong and a smart footballer. Really hope he cements a spot down back and kicks on.

Skinner's closing speed and strong hands were also a feature. If he can develop consistency then he'll be a real asset in the seniors.

I liked Howard and Tutt too - both still learning but are both quick, skilful and seem to have footy smarts.

Vez has some class - I think he must have his eyes on Hoopers spot.

I'm a Panos fan, I think he has way more to offer than Hooper, Djerrkura, Hill, Barlow or Mulligan.

But let's put last night into perspective; No. 25 (Shephard I think) really gave him a right royal touchup after half time.

Don't pin your hopes on Panos as a key back.

Did Hooper move up a bit in your ratings SS after today?

1 Joe the Goose and 1 scrambled goal don't make a career.

I believe he had groin problems most of his time at Sydney...probably has limited the amount of km's he has gotten into his legs, and potentially he and the club haven't gone full throttle with respect to his running training.

If he keeps the form with Willy up next week, could a game against his old club, in the smaller confines of the SCG be a consideration?

Or a game as the sub if he keeps presenting?

But you write him off after one game? cant have it both ways.

On your stats point with which I dont base a good game on, at half time the commentators had so much praise for him on his hard running and hardness around the ball, he was making space etc but our players just werent finding him.

An example was a Dahlhaus goal, look who knocked it to him in a pack of players coming to get him.No stat on that but a goal was the outcome.

How many tackles he made that produced Carlton bugger ups, last week and this week he would have made 3 tackles that didnt get paid as frees in front of goal but werent paid and thats agreed on in the commentary.

On the stats thing if you look at Morris in most games he gets little stats but is in our best because you dont see punches, body contact forcing the ball away etc in stats.

SS, can you also add his pressure/team acts stats as well?

I'm not sold on him but he showed a fair bit today and it was a good sign that he was able to work into the game after sitting on duck eggs at half time.
