Just on the WRFL. Went out to Chirnside Park today to watch some local footy.

Some guy got to live out every child's fantasy today. The Div 1 Reserves clash between Hoppers Crossing & Sunshine was a close affair all day.

Hoppers snuck ahead late on & lead by 3 points deep into time on. Sunshine went forward & a long bomb fell short but in the resultant contest a free kick was paid to Sunshine 15 metres out on a tight angle.

As the Sunshine player went back the siren sounded, which meant he couldn't play on, just had to stay on his line. He just went back & slotted it through like is was the easiest thing in the world.

Lets be honest, when we were kids we all dreamed of kicking a goal after the siren to win the Grand Final.

For those interested Spotswood who only just got over Altona by a point last week in the Div 1 seniors comfortably beat red hot favourites Albion by 35 points to win their 4th flag in 5 years.

Oops! Good pick up, that should have read Spotswood who won. Fixed now.

Apparently the Albion fullforward had a shot ankle before the game, they still played him, he managed to kick 4 and make the century for the season but was on one leg all day.

Just looking at the scores the last few years there has been some unhealthy beltings dished out . I read the WRFL are holding some sort of inquiry into it, cannot be good for the sport.

                Thanks for the report TCD.

Great to see the Woodsmen get some redemption for last season.

The highs and lows of football, even at this level.
Win the Div 2 Under 18 Premiership. High
Come second in the Club best and fairest by 4 points even though you had no preseason and missed the first 5 games of the season (meniscus tear).High
Be named the Under 18 WRFL CHB of the year. Mega High
Receive an invitation to the inaugural Barlow Morris Squad. Mega High
Realise you have three weeks to get to your peak to make a good impression on the VFL coaches, nervous!
Moving house, drop a fully loaded trailer and your hand, crushing your finger on your steel cap boots.
Have reconstruction surgery, no contact sports for three months, mega low.
All at the age of 16, poor kid!

Soft free kick for what it cost Hoppers.

Touch and go. He was being held by the jumper. Would be given every time in AFL IMO. Good on Sunshine. A well run club who don't rely on a chequebook for premierships albeit a Reserves Grade flag

Disagree. I don't care 1% for either team but that was never a free kick.

Agree - all had their eyes for the ball, terrible decision.

Nothing to do with the free kick.
Still can't see the hold (it is quite grainy when blown up) and as far as ever week given in the AFL, it depends on who you are.
