Re: Umpiring in the WRFL
Just thought I'd update this, now that the season is over.
Ryan umpired most of the season doing Division 2 seniors, but did manage to umpire 3 games in Division 1 seniors. Pretty decent effort for a 15 year old!
He just needs to work on his fitness to regularly umpire Division 1 seniors, so he's going to do running training over Summer.
Here he is in action in ifs fist game in Div 1 seniors, St. Albans v Yarraville.

Re: Umpiring in the WRFL
Great effort Ryan does the AFL have people in place to help with the fitness training of young umpires Coon Dog might be a way to keep more young people interested if there is a defined pathway.Comment

Re: Umpiring in the WRFL
No, WRFL umpires train at Maidstone during the season.
During Summer he has 2 alternatives, train with Terry McGarrity who has a running stable at Braybrook where a number of AFL umpires run. This year there will be running training a couple of nights per week overseen by the Umpires Boss, Mark Westgarth at MacKillop College in Werribee.[COLOR="Red"][B][U][COLOR="Blue"]85, 92, 97, 98, 08, 09, 10...
