    Centrals again?

Non Centrals supporters seem to have gone quiet on SANFL reports, for those who are interested,Centrals have reached another grandfinal after beating Norwood last week,
Norwood now play the Eagles this week to take on Centrals next week.

Amazing season from Centrals, everybody expected them to start a slide of some sort after so many years but they just keep coming, think its about 12 Grand finals in a row now.

Was listening to SEN the other week and they were wondering why the Centrals coach hadnt been approached or applied for the Adelaide job, apparently he wont fly so not interested in anything AFL.

No luck in the AFL with the red, white and blue but certainly great colours to follow in the SANFL.

I started to follow them when one of the blokes I lived with went from us to Centrals in the early 80s, Cowboy Neale was coach, Platten was on a wing.
    Get on board doggie supporters.

I think the Gowan brothers are competing in their 17th grand final.

It's been an amazing run by Centrals

This will be their 10th at Centrals going by the website.
They both played a seaon or two at the Saints years ago, did either of them play in the Saints one a few years ago?

A sad story from this side was the captain of the club in a premiership year was killed on end of season trip, about 2000 I think it was, hit by a train in the UK If I remember rightly.
      Daniel Hulm I think.

This will be their 12th grand final at Centrals. If they win, it will be their 10th premiership, the most of any player in the history of the SANFL.

I actually think the most remarkable stat is that in those 12 years, Centrals have not had to play in a preliminary final. They have won 12, 2nd semi finals in a row.
Incredible record by the players and club.

All it took to get you back on board was a Collingwood Grand Final loss??

Centrals reserves lost to the Tigers today in the Pre lim, a Menzal played, presume its younger brother.

Perfect end to the footballing season for me

Given the quality of senior players Norwood lost in Puopolo, Duigan, Lower etc and a number of injuries it was surprising to make it this far. The last 2 weeks were very, very ordinary though.

Should be a cracker next week, Centrals no doubt will start the overwhelming favourites.

                    Footy Parki next Sunday.

League Central Districts vs Woodville West-Torrens Eagles

CDFC going for their 10th win in about a dozen years, should win easily, not withsranding a number of injuries to key players (basically their forward line!)

Reserves Norwood vs Glenelg. Glenelg finished the minor round top but the last third of the season has been very down and up. Norwood beat Glenelg 2 weeks ago by 95 points, a much improved Glenelg beat CDFC by a couple of goals yesterday. I expect Norwood to win.

u18s (Maccas Cup) the two top teams play off, Glenelg and Port Magpies.

Port finished top, Glenelg came from the clouds two weeks ago and kicked 9 goals in the last quarter to win by about 3 goals. A strengthened Port side will be an interesting challenge, i am hoping for a Glenelg win.

The silly thing is that the Scouting Managers watch these games and a players chances of gettng drafted hinge dramatically on this one game, irregardless of what they have done for the rest of the season and how many great reports the local scouts have written.

PS as much as I admire the CDFC as a footy club on all levels, a big number of their supporters arent much better then Soccer Hooligans. I'm not sure that waving the Union Jack and throwing flares at the Grand-Final is a very Footscray - like thing to do.

Anyways, i hope that they win as they deserve to. Great team of footballers with a briliant coach.

Might add I have been to a few Western Bulldog games at footy park and even went to the Vic v SA game, think it was Lloyds first game and found the crowd quite feral at all of them.
Quite funny you mention the Union Jack thing, first game I went to I had my Southampton shirt on , no idea why, but as I walked past a group of fans out came the soccer chants, this was mid 80s, it was then I realized Adelaide was very english.
Since then my cousins have moved out from the UK and plonked themselves in Adelaide.

Actually I love the place, beaches are beautiful and clean, the city so easy to get around, only problem I have is the people seem 10 years behind and the whole town seems to shut down early at night.
Its a very relaxed placed just right for retirees

Wow the SANFL season is still going?

Such a late finish for a football season...must be the last to finish in the country - is there any reason that they go well into October?

                              Correct. According to Centrals History:

"In 1960 the committee of Footscray (in the VFL) accepted an invitation to dine with the new Central District committee. Footscray became the first Patron of the Central District Football Club, donating 30 long sleeve woollen jumpers and 30 pairs of socks to assist the new club".

                              Go Bulldogs!
