We also have Morris with a long-term injury, and Hargrave and Gilbee on their way out. Our out-and-out medium/tall defender stocks are literally Markovic, Mulligan and Barlow.

It's not as if we were overflowing with key defenders -- I mean, we upgraded Mulligan FFS.
This is partly why I think we need to take the best key defender in the draft. We've forced ourselves into this position. Yes, a Crozier (or others) would be nice, but can we afford to gamble that a quality key back will still be at our next pick?

Agree don't mind trying to get a player late in draft or in the Rookie . Not players like Howard with our first pick when most experts said he would go later in the draft we missed some good players.

Starting to hope we go Sam Frost with our first pick.

          May I ask why?

I know we need a key back, but lets not "Tim Walsh" ourselves again.

We are desperate for KPD's and he may be the best available come our pick.

I don't see how we can 'Tim Walsh' ourselves again as we have pick 17 in a compromised draft and not pick 4 in a normal one.

We thought Howard was the best player available - so we took him. What's the problem?

I don't think we can afford to go that risky with our 1st pick. There's too much of a gap between his best and worst for mine.
2nd round pick I'd be happy with.

I hope we land one of Hayden Crozier, Taylor Adams or Sam Docherty. I think one of them should still be there.

And if all 3 are available which way are you leaning?

                      1. Hayden Crozier - He's exactly what we need and a top 10 pick on talent. Quick, creative, good ball use, great mark for his size etc. He has so many good qualities, he's just a bit inconsistent and lacks body size at this stage.
                      2. Taylor Adams - Safest option. Plays inside and outside. Uses the very ball well and is good under pressure. Stands up in tackles. Leader. Doesn't have overly good pace, but has a nice 10m burst of pace.
                      3. Sam Docherty - I'm a big fan and I've probably talked him up the most out of anyone. He's an injury risk though. He's been injured for a lot of his junior career and found himself injured towards the end of this season. I love the way he plays though. Breaks the lines, uses the ball very well, creative, composed under pressure, takes the game on and can be that designated kicker coming out of defence.

Do you think there will be any decent KPD's left come pick 39?

And where do you think his brother Jack will go, ND or RD?

Yeah I do. I rate Boseley, Talia, Frost and Schade fairly close together. Only one of them I have rated inside my top 30, so I think one of them is a good chance to slip through to our 2nd pick. McInnes is another that could be in that group, but I've seen limitted vision of him.

I've only seen Jack play live once, so it makes it hard to judge. Probably GVGjr would know better, but I imagine he would be a late draft chance. I think he's more of a rookie option though as he still heaps to learn.

What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

How good is he? I've heard he's very athletic, but what's he like as a footballer?

                              Cheers
