    Your Local Football Club

Just wanted to start a thread about who your local football club in your area is and if any Western Bulldogs players past or present have been recruited from your local club.

I don't play footy but my local footy club is the Vermont Eagles who play in the Eastern Football League in Melbourne's East. I believe we recruited from Vermont Alex Greenwood. Im not sure of any other Western Bulldogs players who were recruited from Vermont.

I play for Kiama in the South Coast Football league. We are reigning premiers and will be looking for back to back this year. I played all my prior football in the WRFL in Melbourne's west. Surprisingly the standard is reasonably good in the top 3-4 clubs up here (Wollongong, Bomaderry, Nowra,) It drops away fairly dramatically after that. We have one former Bulldog in Mike Bradmore who pulled on the Kiama Power jumper. He doesn't play anymore but can still be seen running the hills around Kiama and they are bloody big hills! A really nice bloke and in great nick considering his age.

I think this thread needs moving to the State League & Junior Football Forum. Bulldogs Unleashed is strictly for Western Bulldogs stuff.

Living in Hampton Park, there are quite a few footy teams in the area (not sure if HP itself has one), but I don't have a particular connection to any. Dandenong Stingrays is nearby, and I think Jarrad Grant came from there. However, I do have a long connection to Noble Park, where I grew up and lived for 30 yrs, and the Bulls are a strong and successful club. As I'm sure we all know, recent recruit Tory Dickson played footy at NP. My family connection to Noble Park is strong, as my grandfather played there (and has the pavilion named after him) and my uncle also played there, before a few years with South Melbourne in the VFL. I still keep an eye on their progress.

Signed up for Border Districts in the Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League.

No Bulldogs but Bernie Vince played a few games for us.

League has produced Jack Redden, Jack Trengove, Aaron Fiora among others.

My wife's family is from Keith who play in this league. I think they won the flag a few years back with Tony Modra playing at full forward. From memory he kicked a bag that season.

Yeah Mods used to play here. Reckon he's at Encounter Bay now. Pity I never got to play against him. I'd even let him stand on my head to take one of his big hangers (don't think he gets airborne much anymore though).

Yeah- Lachie Neale and Alex Forster, too (both recently drafted by Freo.

KNTFL is a pretty strong league.

Hampton Park play in the Mornington Peninsula League (Casey Cardinia division).

I play footy for the Warragul Industrials in the Ellinbank District FL. It was traditionally a Hawthorn zone around this area so not too many doggies players. The only ones I am aware of from the immediate area are Bob Murphy from the Warragul Gulls (who play in the Gippsland League) and Barry Round from Nilma-Darnum (EDFL).
