Cats by 7 points, will need to wait to see a match report from one of the WOOFERs that went today.

Still cant believe that Gilbee got another injury.
    BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

I'll write up a bit when I get home. Spirited fightback in the 2nd half after a pitiful performance in the first half. Wallis got them going early in the 3rd and Cordy was solid all game. Hill was a good performer as well.

Just had a phone call to say Johanisson was busy and keen to run the lines , Tutt and Hooper were better in the second half , Panos again was used predominately in the backline , Austin had a solid hitout , Skinner is getting better at timing his run into a contest , I could,nt hear much else he was in a pub shouting at me

I wanted to get down there to see the game but I was reminded about jobs not done

          Re: Williamstown Teams: Round 3

The Development side had just two Bulldog boys in it.

Lin Jong had a solid 4 quarter effort and was used in a variety of positions. I thought he was terrific with his marking and tackling and he used the ball very well. When moved to the back line he took a couple of strong marks against the opposition.
If he keeps playing like this he will have to get promoted to the Williamstown senior side.

Alex Greenwood had a good first half getting a far bit of the ball but was just average in the second half.

In the end they shook off a very determined Port Melbourne side by 3 goals. McHarg was very good and he had support from Conway, Charleston, Hector and Sing.

              Re: Williamstown Teams: Round 3

15 Bulldog boys in the Williamstown senior side. With a strong wind blowing right down the ground the Cats dominated the first two quarters before Williamstown bounced back and made a real game of it.

Wallis - Good for most of the game without being dominate. Kicked started things in the 3rd quarter with his quick hands. We need him to be given a decent run in the senior side.

Veszpremi - Started in the back line and was pretty good for most of the game. it would be hard to promote him purely off this effort though.

Tutt - Kicked the first goal for Williamstown from a difficult angle after starting on a wing. Still looks to be underdone with his fitness but was still prominent in the last quarter.

Roberts - Moved from the back line to the forward line after half time and improved. He has plenty of potential and I think the club will be happy with his progression so far. He often plays from behind when used as a defender and he did find the Cats forwards a difficult match up for him.

Skinner - Very quiet game for Skinner and he just wasn't prominent at all.

Talia - Steady in the back line for the 4 quarters but had trouble with some of the athletic Cats forwards.

Hill - Played as a forward changing with Cordy in the ruck and he had a good game kicking 4 goals plus I thought his ruck work was quite impressive. It was a bit of a break through game for Hill but I wonder if he can hold his spot if Campbell is back next week.

Johannisen - Backed up last weeks effort with another encouraging display. Once again he didn't get a lot of the ball but he ran hard and used the ball well.

Hooper - While it was a better effort than last week he still missed opportunities with his goal kicking which hurt the side.

Redpath - Better than last week but he isn't adding a lot value at the moment.

Austin - Excellent come back game especially with his marking.

Panos - Played as the back pocket and had a quiet game.

Cordy - He continues to make great strides this year and was a factor all over the ground. His improved marking is the difference.

Gilbee - Played on the wing and was pretty quiet. He just missed one long goal (65mtrs out at least) and got injured in the last quarter.

Sherman - At times he looked great but he didn't get a lot of the footy. Kicked a goal in the 3rd quarter that lifted the side.

That would need a player to be moved to the Long Term Injury List. Williams is due back at round 8 so I can't see a rookie being promoted just yet.

Hard to predict. Cordy hasn't done anything wrong but it would require either Minson or Roughead to be dropped which is probably a hard call. Sherman could close the gap quickly and Tutt and Veszpremi offer a bit. I'd be trying to get Wallis back into the side but not just for a week.

Thanks for the write up. Good to read about Jong.

Really keen to see Cordy play this week and wouldn't mind if we started with all three of Minson, Roughead and Cordy against St Kilda. I feel he deserves a promotion after some consistent performances over the pre-season and early VFL games.

It seems Sherman and Tutt are still at least another week off being in the frame.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

We need someone who can clunk a few.
Cordy deserves a shot at it

It all depends on how we deliver the ball going forward and if we use it poorly like we have over the past 2 games we can't expect a kid to come in and take pack marks.

                            Thanks for the write-up G.

No, but if Cordy and Jones stay away from each other, it will reduce the amount of tall timber sitting on Jones.

I was very impressed with his effort. I knew he would be enthusiastic but his marking and backing into packs was very encouraging and then his kicking skills were a bit better than I thought. On top of that he tackled a few guys hard and kicked a couple of goals. Great game for him.

Greenwood used the ball well but faded in the 2nd half.

I guess this might be the game to try 3 ruckman/forward players but its a tight squeeze.
He's certainly done enough to get selected and we can't ask much more from him.

I'd prefer them both to play at North Ballarat next week but there might be other things to consider.
