That really sucks for JJ. He was having such a good season. Fingers crossed it's not as bad as they thought.

Williamstown overruns Werribee - Brent Diamond

WILLIAMSTOWN staged a thrilling comeback to beat arch-rival Werribee by seven points at Avalon Airport Oval yesterday.
Werribee, which hasn't beaten Williamstown since 2008, led by 39 points at the first change and by as much as 17 points midway through the final term before Williamstown kicked the last four goals.

Damien Bugeja kicked two final-quarter goals, and Jason Tutt, after receiving a controversial 50-metre penalty, launched a bomb from outside 50 to put the Seagulls in front.
Skipper Ben Jolley stood tall and, according to coach Peter German, single-handedly got the Seagulls back into the match.

"The boys just seemed to grow and get a bit more confidence,'' German said. ''I reckon we'd just about have the youngest side in the competition.''

Western Bulldogs defender Dale Morris was taken off as a precaution and barely managed one quarter in a surprise return from a leg injury for Williamstown's reserves.
Morris was pitted against Nathan Ablett who, in his first appearance for Werribee, kicked two goals. Ablett is likely to play his first senior match at the weekend.

German said Morris would be tested this week to determine the extent of any damage.
"He just tightened up a bit. We didn't expect anything. It was just for him to get out there for a bit of a run," German said.

"You'd like to think that if he hasn't done any damage, he'll butter up for Williamstown [seniors next week)."

Good win by Willi and good to see Morris return (hopefully he's fine).

That's quite a good effort by Hill to kick 4 considering Weribee have some good tall defenders listed. Very promising.

Re: Round 6- Williamstown vs Werribee

Gulls claim stunning comeback win over local rivals.

Williamstown have continued their rich vein of form, with a thrilling comeback victory over the Werribee Tigers at Avalon oval on Sunday.

Trailing by 39-points at quarter time, the Seagulls turned the contest around in typically gutsy fashion, eventually prevailing 17.18.110 to 15.13. 103 winners.

Prior to the game, it was well publicized that Werribee had failed to inflict defeat on the Seagulls at home for nearly 7-years and although Scott West talked down the importance of this statistic, his side began the first quarter in scintillating touch and like they had a point to prove to their western rivals. The early preceedings were utterly dominated by the Tigers, who won more of the contested ball, applied immense defensive pressure and were nearly faultless by foot, particularly when kicking into their forward 50.

The beginning of the second quarter saw more of the same, with the Tigers the dominant side all over the ground, but inaccuracy would creep into Werribee's game and their inability to hurt Williamstown on the scoreboard allowed the Seagulls an avenue back into the game.

From the mid-way point of the second term, the Seagulls looked a completely different side, they began to dominate the contested ball and their spread and pace around the ground caused problems for West's men. Consecutive goals to Tom Hill and Cameron Lockwood saw the margin reduced to 16 by half-time and ensured the Seagulls had the momentum going into the 3rd term.

The trend would continue in the third quarter, as the Seagulls continued to win both the contested and uncontested ball and
gradually cut away at the margin. Late in the term, Williamstown would take the lead, via two outstanding contested marks from Tory Dickson that both resulted in goals. Despite Werribee scoring a late goal to ensure they took a 4-point lead into the final quarter, there was a sense of expectation amongst the supporters that the boys in blue and gold would get the job done and run over their opponents in the final term.

This final term however, proved to no formality, as costly errors saw Williamstown sitting in a precarious position late on in the contest. Trailing by 17-points and with just 5 minutes left on the clock Damien Bugeja went onto score two
vital goals, before a Jason Tutt bomb from outside 50 saw the Seagulls regain the lead with just minutes to spare and set-up a frantic nail-biting finish. A Jack Redpath goal after the siren ensuring the Seagulls finished deserved 7-point winners.

Captain Ben Jolley was instrumental in Williamstown's fightback, leading from the front with his competitiveness, clean disposal and work around the stoppages. While, Tom Campbell won his duel with the mercurial Majak Daw and utilized his size effectively in every contest he entered.

Looking ahead, Sunday's win to appears provide the perfect tonic for 3rd placed Williamstown, who travel to Port Melbourne next weekend for what will be a highly anticipated Grand Final replay. Last year's premiers currently sit top of the VFL ladder in 2012 undefeated.

                  Werribee Tigers 7.6 9.10 12.12 15.13 (103)
                  Williamstown 1.3 7.6 12.8 17.8 (110)

                  GOALS:
Williamstown: Hill 4 Dickson 3 Redpath 2 Bugeja 2 Smith Lockwood Jolley Panos Tutt Jong

                      Thanks.

                        Thanks.
He was very good in the packs and reads the play well, he looked very seasoned has a great leap.
                        His disposal was good too.
Whether it was just a good day I am not sure.
Talked to a Nth supporter who saw him play earlier in the year and said that he was shocking, looked nowhere near a footballer.
Maybe he was just getting the feel of it then but I definitely see something in this kid.

Thanks Ledge. Does he have a bit of pace or more agile?

Dont think its a pace thing, just seems to have a footy brain, he isnt an outside runner if thats what your looking at.

He is very agile and seems to have that split second of time free to do things in a pack.

                            Goes in for sure.

Yeah he showed in the Nab game against North that he has a real crack at the inside stuff and throws himself into packs. Looked nervous in that game and made some basic errors but there was enough to like about the way he attacks the ball and also his natural athletic ability and vision. Much like Liber has a sixth sense for feeding a handball out into space and hitting a target, Jong is not dissimilar, if not coming from a bit further back in development.

He'll get elevated for sure, plenty of potential.

He has only just turned 18 and is very raw. Hopefully he continues to develop.
