Difficult day for Someone like Howard . Matter of opinion I suppose, think Gilbee is done.
Fall from Grace for Xavier Ellis, he looked like a star of the game four years ago.

I didn't want Sherman out of the side when he was dropped but his performances at Willi do not bode well for a recall. If he gets back in it will pretty much be purely due to needing his pace.

Ah come on. Hooper has been a non-entity in the past and maybe will always be a VFL player but credit where it is due. Today was a squall, a dirty day, and I thought he applied some pretty good tackles and pressure.

Nah Hooper cheats. His goals are over the top handballs or from turnovers.

Also from peeling off and getting kick over the top.

I don't see getting goals from 'cheating' as a flat out bad thing. A lot of the goals come from him being smart. The issue I think is that along with Higgins and Gia, he doesn't do enough elsewhere.

Steven Milne, Eddie Betts, Nahas ' cheat'. Don't see the difference. Laid some very strong tackles. What's not to like about those efforts?
A serviceable VFL game. Won't be in the AFL in any hurry but is an effective VFL small forward.

Actually I think Shaun and Gia have looked better than last season. It's bit of a funny comparison anyway.

Higgins maybe, but Gia is a shadow of last year...

Maybe - getting back to the VFL, Jong looked better today. Still a very long way to go.
Any news about the Box Hill player who was taken to hospital? A real worry.

Each of those are at least a class above Hooper and at least 1 other string to their bow include speed.

Not sure why we need to worry about effective VFL players, we play AFL.

I'm not going to advocate a Hooper recall but he gets a bad wrap for a perceived lack of defensive pressure. He's way quicker than Gia/Higgins and from what I can see, he chases and tackles ok.

I like Pearce, though if he's to play on small forwards he needs to pay them more respect.

I think Jong has a future - bit to do but he has promise

Because this is the VFL thread
Was never comparing the players, but in reference to getting 'cheap goals'.

?You named the players not me.
Even comparing cheap goals at vfl level to afl doesn't work.
                            Say Nick Sautner next time

There is a place for goal sneaks at all levels AFL or VFL
If they apply defensive pressure and play for the team, who cares?
Laid some good tackles and played a role ( in the VFL ) similar to the one played by other goal sneaks in the AFL. Well done Hoops.

I support an afl club. Hoopers place is vfl at best.
