That may be true and that be taken out of his game. Other than that do you see any chance of him being upgraded in the coming two years?

I'm of a similar view as Cyberdoggie, Howard's not overly quick, he doesn't provide line breaking run, isn't a natural defender, isn't especially physical, and despite looking like a neat kick isn't very effective by foot. So even when he plays a reasonable game I still wonder what he brings to the team as a player.
        Another Higgins?

Not really, he's nowhere near as slow as Higgins, and doesn't play on smarts. He's an outside winger type for mine, but one who's not a line breaker, not particularly damaging by foot, and doesn't have and opponent destroyingly big tank. He'll need to improve in a lot of areas to forge an AFL career, and I really hope he does because we paid a big price to get him.

I only saw the first half, but Smith was extremely impressive. His attack on the ball/man is manic in every sense of the word. I know there has been a lot of hard players over the journey, but Smith attacks it as hard as anyone I've ever seen.

Jones was great in the first half too, looked like his old self. I think this proves that it can be still beneficial for young players to get some touch/form at the lower level. Should come straight back in.

I know Redpath didn't do anything, but the delivery to him in the first half was pathetic. Never gave him a chance, so I could excuse his lack of contribution.

Agree with the calls on Howard -- I saw a couple of solid efforts, but a few really poor skill executions and decisions being made.

I'd like to see us settle Panos down in one position.

Wasn't he touted as Gilbee MK II? 'elite kick' I seem to recall

Yes he was. According to the stats on disposal efficiency he was elite.

Panos = Stephen Tiller. I thought Tiller should have been given more opportunities to play full forward when he was on the list, unfortunately I think Panos will end up where Tiller ended up. With no set position and no longer on our list by seasons end.

                    Perhaps, if he keeps improving.

I'm not as enthusiastic about him as others. His disposal is poor and while his attack on the ball and man are rabid, he can be careless. Both can improve and I'd certainly give him another year as a rookie but I think he's a long way from being elevated.

I wouldn't promote him yet either but in my opinion you are selling him a bit short. His athleticism is pretty good and while his skills can be a bit patchy I think they can work on that with him. He has some Mitch Hahn qualities about him and I'd be happy to give Jong another season as a rookie.

Probably depends on whether he received a 1 year contract or 2 year contract when he was upgraded.

Jong does look a likely type and could well join Liberatore and Wallis as our future midfielders. He may well give us the extra pace that is now lacking in our current crop of midfielders. We seem to have gone with a lot of talls in recruitment at the expense of quicker smaller classy players that are going to be an urgent need in the future.

Wasn't Pratt that weak pissant chasing Barry Hall with Firito and trying to "intimidate" him when he was going to the bench, if it was a big bowl of Karma right there. Well done Howie!!!!
