How did Panos go today or for anyone that went along who were some players that caught your eye.

                          VFL
WILLIAMSTOWN has reversed the trend to become the bolter in this year's premiership race after blitzing sixth-placed Sandringham by 66 points at Burbank Oval yesterday.

While in previous years it has been one of the benchmarks but failed dismally - including last year's grand final loss to Port Melbourne - the Seagulls are in fifth spot and are genuinely the sleeping giants this time around.

They have has won their past five matches largely on the back of their young Williamstown-listed brigade.

One of those is 21-year-old Stephen McCallum, who was best on ground with six goals yesterday. Another was 24-year-old Nick Georgiadis, who was scintillating in the contested ball.
The Seagulls will tackle Geelong next week in another test to show just how far they have come over the past month.

                              Williamstown breeze over Zebras

Williamstown made it five wins in a row with a 66 point win over the Sandringham Zebras in blustery conditions at Burbank Oval on Saturday.

With a strong wind towards the city end, there were only 3 scoring shots up the other end all day with the Seagulls keeping Sandringham scoreless in the 1st and 3rd quarters.

Williamstown braced for a tight contest as they faced a side with 16 AFL listed players who had looked impressive in their previous encounter against Collingwood.

Williamstown chose to kick with the aid of the wind in the first quarter and the Seagulls took full advantage, kicking 5.5 whilst keeping the visitors scoreless.

Stephen McCallum found himself amongst the goals early with further goals from Kwame McHarg and Justin Sherman stretched the margin to 35 points at quarter time.

Williamstown defended courageously in the second quarter trying to nullify the Zebra’s attacks at every opportunity.

The hard work being done on ball by the likes of Ed Carr, Alex Greenwood and Tom Campbell allowed Williamstown to retain possession and territory as they fought their way through the strong breeze.

Down back James Wall, Christian Howard and Jack Charleston were tenacious in their defensive pursuits preventing Sandringham from capitalising on the breeze.

The visitors were able to just add two goals for the quarter with Williamstown taking a 20 point lead into the main break.

In the third quarter it was the home side who made a mockery of the tough conditions kicking an incredible 8.8 for the quarter as they dominated every facet of the game.

Williamstown once again managed to keep the Zebra’s scoreless as they took a 76 point lead into the last quarter.

Going into the wind in the final quarter Williamstown were able to register the first goal of the day up at the western end in the first minute when Tom Hill ran into an open goal.

Sandringham managed to add 3 final quarter goals as the Seagulls ran out 66 point winners to claim their 5th straight win at Burbank Oval.

The Seagulls will face an enormous test next week when they head down to Simonds Stadium to take on Geelong who have won their previous 9 games.

It will be the Seagulls last hit out before finals as they look to consolidate 5th spot on the ladder.
