He's still fringe 22 for them when they have a close to full list to choose from. Would he be in our best 22? Perhaps, but he'd been very poor for a couple of years and had stalled in his development. We rolled the dice on a swap of unfulfilled talents and came up on the lesser side of it. I was fine with the trade then and I'm not fussed about it now to be honest. Certainly on the lower end of draft/trade mistakes in the last 5 years.

I saw nothing in Everitt yesterday that made me regret us having made the trade. Yes we are on the loser side but no real damage done.
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

I tend to disagree, simply because we need players in that age bracket. Losing all of Harbrow, Hill, Ward, Everitt, Ray (and Reid) left us a long way behind the 8 ball.

Everitt played loose man in defence and honestly the way we deliver inside 50 we'd all get a kick. He's been better this year, but at that size should be playing a key position spot.
Not fussed either way that he went. Harbrow and Ward have been huge losses obviously

Reid's no loss at all. He's battling to get a game in steam full of kids.
Hill hasn't been as good this year, and doesn't get a kick when the going gets tough.

We traded Everitt for Vez who is 6 months younger. Didn't effect our age profile at all. Sure Vez isn't playing firsts but you can't guarantee Everitt, Hill, Ray or Reid would be either or that having them in the firsts would be better than putting games into guys who will now have 50-100 games up when the hit 23,24 yo. Being 1-2 games worse now may make 3-4 games better in 2 years.

Vez would be 50:50 for the chop you would think?

Had some solid games at VFL but AFL was poor.

I'd be inclined to give him another crack in the 1sts to see between now and the end of our year. I'll also understand if they don't given the current team dynamic is building so well and if he came in and delivered no second effort he'd be dragging the team backwards and could cost the guys a hard fought win to learn from.

Tough call for the coaching staff for mine. Career on the line - maybe already over?

If Vez isn't on the chop already then I don't know how we'll meet the AFL requirement for delistment, let alone cut deep.

Anyway Cordy had 17 touches and 10 marks, Howard had 19 disposals but in a let down didn't lay a tackle which has been one of his strengths this year.

I suppose you also think he was worthy of the number three Guernsey as well.

I will judge players by their onfield actions regardless of where they were drafted or the number on their back.

I reckon he's cooked as well but to be fair to Vesz he only got one crack at it against Geelong this year. But to be fair to the MC he was bloody awful that night.

Stats off the VFL website. (Unfortunately I can't get the settings to stay in the tabs)
Indicates that Cordy had a good game with 17 disposals and 10 marks.
Easton Wood also had some good numbers with 26 disposals and 8 marks.
Roberts with 19 disposals 2 marks and 2 goals.
