It's Cleary and he was a superb player at VFL level. I think he does a great job personally.

Don't mind Phil...maintains a link to the old VFA. As for Rhys-Jones......harmless but a fair bit of the Captain Obvious about his special comments. Donegan however is one of the most under-rated sports commentators in Australia. Never makes the call about him.

I don't mind the VFL commentators, a lot fewer cliches than the AFL guys and and don't mind call a spade a spade when appropriate.

Donegan is very underrated, and he has a calmness and isn't self indulgent like some.

Happy to see Tutt have a 5 goal game in a final. Hopefully he can have a big impact in the Prelim & Grand Final and takes that (confidence) into the off season.

I reckon it's exactly because he doesn't make the call all about him. He just calls the game without fanfare, cliches, singing, whistling or carrying on about who has the biggest guns.

For some reason the Broadcasters think that the commentators are as much a part of the game (or an even bigger part) itself. It's why I watch football on TV with the volume muted most of the time.
