    Media Phantom Drafts

This from a well know publication. I've highlight the ones I think are the real movers. I like Salem being in the 10. McCarthy is a god decision and Cutler was someone I hoped would go unnoticed for our own Phantom Draft.

    1 - Boyd
    2 - Kelly
    3 - Billings
    4 - Aish
    5 - Kolodjashnij
    6 - Salem
    7 - McCarthy
    8 - McDonald
    9 - Scharenberg
    10 - Bontempelli
    11 - Sheed
    12 - Lennon
    13 - Freeman
    14 - Cutler
    15 - Merrett
    16 - Acres
    17 - Dumont
    18 - Taylor
    19 - Crouch
    20 - Jones

On the flip side is Scharenberg the main slider, perhaps with Aish?

      Scharenberg and Crouch for mine.

Merrett is another bolter, not sure many would have had him top 15.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I like this recent theme of us picking up sliders who are natural footballers - Hrovat last year, Aish possibly this year. Makes a nice change from all the draft bolters we picked up during the Scott Clayton era (and Dalrymple's first draft).

Salem looks like a seriously good player, and I can understand McCarthy's jump too.

Dumont is far too high for mine. Just a stock midfielder currently in a draft full of the same. Mid/late 2nd rounder, but 17 seems to much money.

Taylor is serious gun with both feet, agility and workrate. Not too low, but i think he'll be just behind the top ten.

This one has a few errors (in my opinion) but goes pretty deep.

I follow SCP, she's pretty switched on. This has been rolling for some time.

Not sure why you bother to go so deep, like a needle in a hay stack. As for our selections, would be happy with Aish, although I would prefer Jake Kolo later on. No Conlan etc? Has us passing Brown too?

Geez some of these phantom drafts are overly positive. She says at the start that the top ten are a step above the rest, and then has descriptions like the following at pick 37.

Like a small Jack Russell thinking he is a pitbull, Cameron Giles – a 195cm ruck/defender believes he is a midfielder. Giles is an absolute ripper of a prospect, and in terms of development could be absolutely anything in the coming years. He can do it all; ruck, play in defence or even swing forward – and if he’s feeling a little bit fancy, he’s also an attacking winger! It is however, in defence when Giles plays his best game – taking big scalps in the National Championships on Max King, Dallas Willsmore and Michael Apeness, in a brilliant display of shutdown football. For the Dockers, it’s a bit like combining the traits of Grant Birchall, Brian Lake and Ryan Shoenmakers all in one. This kid will be something special in years to come and holds could join Tanner Smith in an ultimate combination of key defenders for the future.
Based on that this has to be a superdraft. The defensive Adam Goodes slips through to the third round!!!
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Found that quite amusing. Will have to take a look at the site later tonight.

Crouch is a candidate to fall down the order because of his leg speed. It will be a mistake, but that is why it will happen...basically he has a physical shortcoming that gives every team a reason not to pick him.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I can't see him sliding out of the first round though. The one thing that at least a few clubs will pick up on is that he can find the ball. Surely a team like the Swans will look past the questions on his pace.

Yep, agree with that. The style of player he is, it shouldn't be the overwhelming consideration and someone late first round will get a good player. Mitch Grigg was similar (albeit, I think a much better/more penetrating user by foot) as one who had a very slow 20m time and dropped significantly (more than I see Crouch dropping) but has shown this year both at AFL level and in the SANFL finals that he's going to be a ripper of a player.

It's a shame that happens - looking at his u18 form he is one of the biggest ball magnets available, and his tackle count suggests he runs both ways.

Yeah if we didnt have Smith and Wallis I would really consider Crouch with pick 4. The kid will be a gun inside mid
