So your implying because of his name he's talked about so glowingly?
Robert Murphy was drafted skinny, turned out okay!
Aish is highly touted and two time All Australian,so my thinking is you pick the more highly touted player.

It isn't hard to understand why there are questions about the kid...anyone and everyone who watched the vc game loves him but it isn't like that is the entire story.

I see your point about Kelly but he has one measurable, unique skill that separates him from his peers...the ability to run and run and run and run...and also performed well at the champs. I could see him at pick 2. Or pick 10. He clearly has the work rate for senior footy and you can pretty safely project his 1-on-1 game will develop in an afl system and he will become a very good player.

Draft order? Who the hell knows but to me Kelly is a safer bet than Sheed even if Sheeds ceiling might be higher.
I'm not arguing we should pick him at 4; he looked great in what I saw but I acknowledge what I saw is very limited and that the people making the decisions know better than me and I should shut up; look at my signature!

Kelly is curious to me in the sense that he is athletically gifted; those skills can translate or they can not.

These are my points of contention. I like the drafts better when every player in the top ten is a gun and everyone is happy to draft whoever they draft.

Not sure how I missed this thread.

Great write ups Griff. Interesting you have Marsh ahead of McCarthy, although I like the look of both. Marsh's positioning on draft day is one of the most interesting pieces of the puzzle for mine. He oozes raw talent, but he definitely comes with some risks and he needs to improve his kicking.

Personally I think Kelly will be a star. Knows where to run to find the ball, agile and a great user of the ball but most importantly as mjp highlighted, he runs and runs wit purpose. I think this should see his game transition pretty well, and I see his inside game continuing to improve.

The divide of opinion on Crouch has been huge, but I tend to think he'll be a pretty solid player at the top level too. Carlton or Melbourne would be a good fit.

No, like I said - he's obviously been brought up as a Norwood person, been nurtured through the Norwood ranks and I think that judging him just on what he's done in the Norwood seniors is probably misleading. In his one foray into a different team, at the U18 Championships, he struggled when compared to other elite prospects, only averaging 16 touches. Most Victorian guys have to play club footy/school footy/U18 champs/TAC cup and adapt to a variety of different environments.

Again, like I said, it's not that he's skinny, it's that he's never going to be big.

To be fair, Aish has played school footy as well and has been a reasonable contributor at league level for Norwood. He's worked with Bassett who I rate highly as a coach and developer who has overseen a large number of Norwood players transition to AFL footy over the past 3 years. I'm not sure it should be a knock on him as most SA footballers come through one club if they are good players from a young age.

He was a good performer at the Champs last year as an under age player and whilst he was tagged and didn't dominate this year he still showed his class.

Will be interesting to see how he goes but I'm pretty confident.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?
