Interesting that in WA Freo and The Eagles have gone with affiliations to East Perth and Peel thunder.
What are our West Aussie posters thoughts?

West Adelaide veteran Shane Birss will play his last SANFL match against South at City Mazda Stadium on Sunday.
Birss, who has played 84 games and kicked 25 goals for the Bloods since 2009, has decided to retire after logging 71 AFL games with the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda between 2002 and 2008.
The 31-year-old has been named on the wing to confront the Panthers in his final game of league football.
“Shane is loved by all players and supporters at the club,” West football services manager Andrew Marks said.
‘’We will sorely miss his on field leadership and enthusiasm.’’

I loved Birss, just a shame we had too many players like him at that stage. Wish him well.

An SANFL viewers care to comment on Panos? Apparently playing well as a large mid this season? Perhaps worth a look with a view to being a mid-sized defender? Anyone who has the capacity to play forward or in the midfield should be able to handle a defensive role, you would think. Gotta be an upgrade on Howard, Fuller and possibly Young.

He has, been doing it pretty well from what I've been told.

I think one of the SA based clubs might look to him as a rookie.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

And Norwood make it 3 in a row, and top off my day beautifully!!!!!

Which funnily enough, meant that 3 former Dogs, Gavin Hughes, Matty Panos and McGuinness also got premiership medals today.

It's been reported that Panos played well as a mid fielder.

Subi beat East Perth over here in horrendous conditions. A win for the 'good guys' (East Perth are aligned with West Coast and rolled out 11 AFL listed players). Not sure who won the medal but Horsley (delisted by Gold Coast following his ACL) was unbelievable. Josh DeLuca won a premiership medal as a 17 yo.

Would Horsley be worth looking at again at AFL level mjp?

Last night Gavin Hughes informed senior coach Ben warren that he would be retiring from SANFL football. Gavin joined the Norwood Football Club as a junior from the Modbury Hawks Football Club and played his first senior game in 2005 against North Adelaide at Norwood Oval. Gavin was then Drafted by the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2006 spending 2 years on the Dogs list without making the senior side. Gav then returned to the Norwood Football club in 2009, constantly in and out of the league team due to injury.
Gavin's penetrating kick and strong presence over the football has made him an integral part of the NFC's back six when injury allowed him on the park and getting to taste premiership success in his final game of SANFL was just rewards for a player who worked so hard off field to play each week.

Gavin has indicated to Ben that he would like to still be involved around the club learning the the coaching side of the game.

Injuries certainly hampered his career, wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
