@FootscrayVFL: Honeychurch! The pocket rocket slots one and the Dogs are within four goals.

@FootscrayVFL: Halfway through the fourth and the Seagulls lead by 29. Bontempelli is beginning to impose himself. Go Dogs!

@FootscrayVFL: Footscray still five goals down with ten minutes to play. Williamstown has been superb so far today. Come on Doggies!

Good to hear that they haven't just laid down though. Footscray so far have proven to be far better than they ought to be for a first year VFL side.

@FootscrayVFL: FULL TIME: Williamstown 15.8 98 defeat Footscray 7.15 57. Willy bested us around the ground and punished our mistakes in front of goal. Honeychurch, Bontempelli, Smith were positives. A 41 point loss in Williamstown, let's turn it around next week Doggies!

I reckon Goodes will get rubbed out for a few weeks he copped one in the guts then turned around and whacked the guy in the head which sparked a bit of a mele.

                    Went along today some observations
Cordy drops to many marks when in a good position.
Bontempelli's very clever( excellent below his knees)
Honeychurch was the spark in the second half( excellent goal from the boundary)
Dickson offered little, Redpath looked better as a forward( team looked top heavy)
Talia started well (spent a fair bit of time off under the blood rule)
Darley did a few nice things off half back
Pretty disappointing effort, although against a very good side

I'd love to see Bonti get a run next week.

                        I'd personally drop Jong.

I thought Talia was very good early( he copped a nasty whack)
                          Honeychurch looks a likely type
Campbell didn't play. Bontempelli looks just about ready ( set up a great goal early with clean hands below his knees)
The two game styles were stark with Williamstown playing a sling shot free flowing style and we're playing a tough contested game.
I liked the look of darley off half back . Smith was his usual self, although he needed the run as did Howard

Re: Williamstown Vs Footscray - 90 Years On

In short, no one other than Goodes put their hand up today who was our best performer over the four quarters.

Talia received a whack to the face early which saw him sustain a broken nose. His breathing did seem restricted from this point but far from imposed himself.

Bontempelli turned the ball over by foot terribly in the first half. He didn't appear to handle the strong southerly wind well. With that said, he is very smart around the stoppages. He did suffer a minor elbow injury midway through the last. Still needs time to build up his tank but he does look an exciting prospect.

Roberts was nowhere to be seen and appears to have taken a step back unfortunately.

Big Tom was a late withdrawal struggling to recover from some concussion.

Cordy still a long way away with some ordinary examples shown today. He simply doesn't know how to position himself in the ruck and when he does find himself in a position to compete he lacks the body strength.

Tory Dickson did little with his lack of leg speed hampering his progression.

If we selected Fuller for his kicking ability then we should be demanding a refund for faulty goods. Another poor user at this stage.

Howard continues to be Howard unfortunately. Just does not do anywhere near enough.

Greenwood rarely presented and must now be on borrowed time like Howard and Pearce (who didn't play)

Honeychurch competes well but does lack the polish that you see in a Dahl, Macrae, Hrovat and Bonts. Still keen to see how he progresses through the season.
