I still can't see how people say Talia is the worst kick at the club, he can at least kick something resembling long and straight. Howard is the worst kick I can remember playing for the Bulldogs. His kick to shank ratio must be the highest in history.

A feel a bit for the kid. He played like a kid who isn't convinced himself that he should be playing AFL senior footy & seemed like he wasn't keen to get the ball in space because he was afraid of making a mistake.

The difference is that Talia doesn't do any damage with his kicks. Howard does sometimes, even if he shanks more in doing so.

The only damage I've seen is to his own team. He primarily goes short and conservative, it's only when he doesn't have an option short he goes long, nearly always with a shank. I'd prefer the ball in Talia's hands under pressure.

Its a shame Dalrmpyle blotted his copy book convincing everyone Howard should be our first pick.

It was a ridiculous choice that should never have been allowed by the other members of the football department to go ahead. It was the culmination of an extraordinarily bad period of recruiting in our history.

The galling thing about the Howard selection is that he was specifically chosen on the back of his supposedly elite distribution of the ball by foot (as was Tutt in the same draft). There was a sound rationale to find a future replacement for Gilbee in our back half but Howard could not have been less able to fill those big shoes in hindsight.

I've lost count of the number of players we've recruited trying to replace LG, and we're not much closer to doing it. JJ is a chance still. The closest was probably Schofield but he wanted to be a Perth rock star (didn't that work out for him )

The issue with the Howard pick was they got spooked that The Crows were into him.
We reached, and how many lies are thrown out by clubs alleging interest in a player.

Reaching with first round draft picks is bollocks.
                      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I am yet to watch McCartney's press conference but I read, he was speaking about Wallis and how well he played - went back to the VFL and worked on his craft and came back and played well.

He also mentioned Howard and how he had been injured a lot and is now starting to buckle down and build a career

What does that mean? - He will play next week?
More of an In Bruges guy?

I raised an eyebrow at that as well.

Can only assume he's been stronger in areas they want him to work on if he is to have a career at the lower level. I can't remember a number of glaring defensive mishaps yesterday, though his general output wasn't flash.

Has only played 19 games to date. He is very inexperienced and needs alot more development, but are we patient enough?

I hope so. Why put him in for only one week. If the MC want to see whether he has improved it has got to be over at least a couple of weeks surely.

I threw up when I heard that. Are we going to give him another year? This is Howard's 5th year isn't it? He still looks like a first year player. Why on Earth do we persist rather than cut our losses and move him on? The Western Bulldogs would be better for it and it would probably do Howard the world of good to go back to a lower level and try and fight his way back in the AFL.

He's no good, I don't need another season or another game for him to show me that. Put someone else in his place. What does a guy like Honeychurch have to do to break into the team? Howard's form in the VFL has been ordinary and gets rewarded the minute he puts a good game together. There is something wrong here?
