Re: Best goal YOU ever kicked.

Well I did manage one remarkable goal despite being a regularly horrid kick.

I was no certainty even from the goal square and about 40 was the limit for range.

Playing country footy with a howling gale I took possession about CHB and just kicked it forward (bit like the Bulldogs do at the moment). Managed to propel it about 50 metres towards the hf flank where it managed to bounce back over the head of an opponent with a terrific off-break turn and then rolled end over end as true as it could ever for another 50 odd metres through an unguarded goal.

    Miracles can happen.

Will have to go with my best (indoor) soccer goal.

Had just put a through ball on to one of our best players only to have the keeper make a great save. Attempts a quick throw to a team mate. I read it like a book, intercepted the throw with a beautiful first touch and then had a running swing with the wrong foot, struck it sweetly and put it into the top corner.

Not bad for a bloke almost totally devoid of kicking skills.

Not the best but the one goal that sticks in my mind was in my first game with North Footscray Seniors coming straight from the juniors. Playing at home at Roberts street I received a free kick in front of goal about 35 metres out on a slight angle shortly after the game started. I kicked truly. What was special that it was my first kick in my first game.

Not quite in line with the OP, but I had one of the best goals ever kicked on me by my opponent one day. I was playing CHF and we were kicking into a howling wind. I went up for a mark in front, the CHB punched from behind, the ball spilled out and he grabbed it and kicked it as far as he could down the centre. With the wind it carried over the players at half forward, then proceeded to roll another 75m with the breeze through for a goal. The kick without a hint of exaggeration went 140m and kept rolling into the car park.

The coach even had the temerity to send the run out to me and tell me to be accountable. I told him to get *!*!*!*!ed!!

Re: Best goal YOU ever kicked.

Mine is almost a carbon copy of Dogs v Essendon 2000 - And yes i was the great Chris Grant.

Was under 18's we were a middle of the table side at best. Playing against the clear best side in the competition who had dominated all the way through juniors up until under 18's (we had never beaten them from Under 10's all the way to Under 18s). It was only round 5 but they were undefeated. I was chasing a bloke out of our forward 50 when suddendly i was basically coat hangered by a shocking attempted at a sheppherd (ala Libba against the Giants) Down by 3 points i was right up against the boundary in the same pocket as Chris Grant. I ran around on my left (I'm a lefty) and slotted it with hardly anytime left in the match right infront of our bench.

Was the greatest feeling. Until they got the next centre clearance and goaled with about 4 seconds left in the game. Ouch!

Playing EFL Seniors for Croydon North vs Lilydale at Lilydale.

Roved the pack on the forward flank and handballed to our Captain Coach, Gerry McCarthy of Hawthorn/Fitzroy fame who was boundary side. The handball was smothered by an opponent and as the ball hit the ground again, in one motion I scooped the ball up in my left hand and did a blind turn around the opponent where I found myself hard up against the boundary about 40m out from goal. I steadied and fired a low drop punt at the goal umpires chest and if he hadn't have moved out the way, it would have knocked off the top button of his big white coat. One of those kicks from the moment it left the boot it wasn't going to deviate one bit. Got smashed by about 15 goals but I did pick up the Pizza award.

Not a goal but when I was 16 or so I was having a kick with some mates at Whitten Oval during school holidays. Royce Hart had just taken over as senior coach and was running laps of the laps of the ground. The ball came in at the right height for to try for a hanger so I jumped onto my mate's back and got the perfect ride, just as I landed on his shoulders he stood up and I just kept getting higher and higher. The ball landed on my chest and I pretty much walked over my mate's head and landed on my back in front of him.

I looked up and Royce was standing there clapping me! He said "that's one of the best marks I've seen kid. I'd be proud to take a mark like that" Royce Hart-the best player I've ever seen!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

He should have signed you up there are then, wouldn't have done much worse than the players during his time.

                    Under 18's EDFL.
I kicked the ball from the half forward flank and kept running, the ball was loose in our right pocket. I gathered in my left hand in one motion on the boundary line and tried to centre it into our goal square. The ball sailed through. The runner came out and said ''who do you think you are Douggie Hawkins''. I had the biggest smile on my face after that.

I've never told any one until now that I actually didn't mean it.

                      Love the honesty!

I think I kicked 3 goals in my junior career, I only meant one, and then I got dragged to the back pocket. God I hated hearing, "BT, back pocket mate" from the coach. So I took up umpiring, at least with umpiring I could get near and even touch the ball.

My best ever goal was in Primary School footy. In Grade 6 you got to play school footy and because I didn't play club footy it was my first chance to play competitive football. We were playing St.Albans North and they were giving us a bath. They had thee 2 big guys who just dominated. Anyway I was playing on the ball and copped a high one in a contest in the centre of the ground. I picked myself off and looked o give it off (well I think I did) but there was nothing on so I went back and unleashed a massive (35-40m torp....big for an 11 year old) from the centre of the ground and it sailed clear through. I remember nothing else form the game other than we got smashed.

Uni Games playing for the VU vultures playing the University of Ballarat Urine cake eaters(not their real nickname). Took a mark in the forward pocket pretty close to the boundary line about 30m out. Went back to line it up, when some bright spark from the opposition (probably 6 years into his arts degree) calls out "you wouldn't invert torp it". Reeking of gin and with the stale taste of last nights kebab lining my mouth guard I went back. I knew the mechanics required but I never tried such a thing, the inverted torp is not an easy kick I can assure you. Taking deep breaths I strode in with confidence, the ball cannoned off my mid shin parting the surrounding players with its terminal velocity, the crowd silenced as the ball sailed 3/5ths of the way to goal, in a half mung twist it somehow found its way along the ground through the goals.

I'm sure my teammates would have swamped me if it hadn't of required effort, that their hangovers would have allowed. I was fairly pleased.

                                Bahaha love it.

Mine came in U/14s AFL Canberra. I was a short kid back then (now I'm a bit taller and play key position), so I spent most of my time at the bottom of packs in the middle. The coach sent me to full-forward for a quarter and for some reason I found myself 1 v 2 out of the goal square. The ball was kicked in and it was a shocker, and I met the footy with an opponent each side, trying to shield them both from it Gia style. In one motion I flicked the oncoming ball back between my legs, turned on my toes, left the opposition in my wake and then rammed home the goal. It was beautiful, as a junior who didn't kick many goals, I savoured it.
