People have been bringing dogs to the VFL since the dawn of time. I've taken Griffy to 100 games over the years. In a league that struggles to get more than a few hundred at a game it's the least of their concerns.

Maybe it's the name? Just sayin'...

I tend to agree with though. Dogs have been going to VFL games since this particular incarnation came along 20 years ago. Often it was only people walking their dog that were watching the game. Unless the club has had specific legal advice that dogs could cause a problem, but then you'd tell you wouldn't they
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It is quite poor that you found out at the gate. The club has every right to decide not to allow dogs but they should've communicated it, especially if it's seen as the norm.

We're the last club that needs to invent reasons to turn away supporters. Anyway we'll be returning our memberships. Jarrad in events take a bow!
Haven't you had this issue before though?

With the wide open spaces, why not have a designated leashed area of grass?

It could actually bring a few extra to games.

Disappointed to hear about Greystache's experience. It is local footy, you should be able to take your dog, something people have done for many years.

Ordinary to say the least. One of the unique pluses of being a WB fan is the presence of dogs - particularly the bulldog breed. Club needs to address this one urgently.

My 3 & 5 year old actually asked me "where is da Booldog, Dad?"

Not wishing to upset you, but if a dog bites someone? , plenty of young kids and balls flying around, dogs tend to chase balls, maybe bite a kid chasing the same ball?
Anyway I think it would be an O H&S by the VFL than the club. Just because dogs have been let in for years doesn't mean it will stay the same , try bringing alcohol into a game . Maybe a phone call beforehand ?

I agree ledge, but at least tell people before the game so they don't have to make their way to the ground only to be told you can't take the dog in.

What if a stray footy hits a child? Ban footys?

Perhaps I should call ahead everywhere I go to check they haven't changed something without telling me. Maybe I should call Vic Roads everytime I get in the car to check they haven't canceled my licence without telling me

VFL finals have different rules, the club didn't tell supporters about that either.

This time apparently the club has just decided to not let people in on the day. I feel really bad for the bloke I had to tell on my way out that they weren't going to let him in who told me he'd just driven an hour and a half to get there.

I just can't believe of all the clubs in Victoria it would be ours looking to create reasons not to let supporters go to games. It's utterly unbelievable.

I have the most brilliant., lovely dog and would not for a moment think of taking her to a game of footy.
