Re: RIP David Bowie
As those who frequent the music board would've read, I've really gotten into Bowie the last year or so. I've been doing so much reading and I thought he was literally indestructible. Only yesterday I was listening to the archipelago track of him and Freddie Mercury belting their duet without the music. They both sounded amazing. This fella changed music forever, I hope for much adoration for an icon and not crappy Vox pops. This has absolutely floored me.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
Aside from being a great artist, he also did a great deal for many people. I recently read an Iggy Pop biography, it is no exaggeration to say Bowie saved his life by picking him up again and again, even after Iggy repeatedly let him down. Although the book was on Iggy, you finished with way more admiration for Bowie than anyone else.Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
Just gutted hearing the news today.
This popped up on my Facebook feed tonight which made me smile.

Re: RIP David Bowie
What a gut punch.
I still held hopes of one day seeing him live, even if it meant flying to Europe.
I heard an interview snippet tonight where he said that all he ever wanted to do was live within the music and help move it forward. There's no doubt he succeeded.

Saw him on his first tour of Australia in 1978.
Awesome concert, opened up with Station to Station.
Saw him on the later Let's dance tour. The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
Loved David Bowie. Seeing him live in Sydney in 2003 is a highlight of my life. He was simply brilliant, and especially given his age at the time, but of course that is to be expected of a genius of Bowie's calibre, they simply don't age.
I was listening to Under Pressure this morning and a massive wave of sadness overtook me to think that we've now lost them both, Mercury and Bowie. Add Jackson and Johnny Cash and I'm very much looking forward to the afterlife if just for the tunes.Comment
