I've been churning through heaps of Bowie too Sedat. The 2 above clips are crackers. The first one is Bowie (in his coked out 70s prime) on a Bing Crosby Christmas special, sings like an angel but his otherness is way amplified. The 2nd one is Will Ferrell and John C Reilly expertly parodying the clip.Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
True TD, Bowie was a perfectionist. Given that, his workrate was phenomenal - especially in the 70s.
Consider this; between December 71 and October 77, he released 10 albums in under 6 years - all meticulously crafted classics, most of which appear prominently in greatest albums of all time lists (most artists these days struggle for an album every 3 years despite technology apparently making things easier).
Whilst banging out intricate works of genius every few months, he simultaneously produced or mixed at least 10 other albums for other artists, including classics by Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, The Stooges and Mott The Hoople that are still widely heard and much loved 40 years later.
Also conducted at least 3 major tours, lead acted in major movies and moved home to at least 3 different countries (travelling by sea and rail as he had a morbid fear of flying).
I've read a couple of biographies on Bowie. By 1977 he was very ill, in part from his insane workrate (he worked relentlessly every day for years, apparently often without sleep), in part from the amount of drugs he took to keep going. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

What about Essendon words to Fatso/chubby little loser?
Little cheating bad man who sold his soul.
Little cheating bad man who sold the Players dreams.
Pathetic little bad man, no ones bloody believes you.
You're the clown that everyone laughs at, we all just wish youd go.
He sold his soul, for a shot at fame.
Catchphrase of whatever it takes emphasises the pain.
They've got no style, they've got no grace.
Theyre all cheats and a bad waste of space.
See their liars faces.
Liar. Liar. Lair. Liar.
Again, see their lying faces.
Liar, liar. Liar, liar.
Little bad man, with the liars face.
Liar, liar. Liar, liar.
Little bad man.
He's a little lying man.
Liar, liar. Liar, liar.
Cheating men. Liar, liar.Comment

I've watched the clip to Lazarus about 10 times, and it's brilliant as it is still haunting. What a beautiful parting gift. I hope that every single musician for the rest of time never, ever, ever cover it for any reason at any time. I think it should be completely sacrosanct.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
As those who frequent the music board would've read, I've really gotten into Bowie the last year or so. I've been doing so much reading and I thought he was literally indestructible. Only yesterday I was listening to the archipelago track of him and Freddie Mercury belting their duet without the music. They both sounded amazing. This fella changed music forever, I hope for much adoration for an icon and not crappy Vox pops. This has absolutely floored me.
Very sad news. What a legend."It's over. It's all over."Comment

I watched the full 10 minute clip of Black Star. That gives MJ's thriller a run for the title of the best 10 minute or so film clip. Stunning piece of work to leave us with.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
I've listened to the Black Star album non stop for two weeks and still entranced the BS & Lazarus videos. He's a 69 yo on his death bed and is still the coolest man in the history of mankind. Stunning work. Internet rumours are he developed as many as three anthologies to be released posthumously. So there's years of good stuff to look forward to. I wish I could go out in the style and with the foresight of DB has pulled off.
I would like to know one day if it's Major Tom in the epic Black Star video.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
Went to see The Models at the Croxton on Friday night and they made a touching tribute to Bowie followed by a ripping version of Suffragette City. Was great to be there and hear successful musicians in their own right pay a fitting tribute to a phenomenal artist."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Re: RIP David Bowie
David Bowie's wife has released one of his three songs and music video completed shortly before his death. Focussing on him in the after life. Even though he's gone this music and film-clip art of his is brilliant, stunning, amazing it's as if he's talking/singing from the other side. The song is called 'No Plan', and you can find the film clip on YouTube (over 320,000 views already) and presumably the various music selling/sharing conglomerates.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment
