Give me Prince over that crotch pounding creep any day!

RIP - He was pretty bloody good. Great legacy as a performer and a writer.

Agreed. They weren't even playing the same sport.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

There's just so much more cred to Prince's sound. I didn't like much of his later stuff, but his best stuff doesn't sound nearly as dated as the creep's stuff does.

Being on the road a fair bit today and not a real Prince fan 8 heard a lot of his music today. For me it's one of those situations when you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

Jackson peaked in 1982 (arguably 1979) and went downhill thereafter. Prince was only getting started at the same time. His run of exceptional albums in the 80's rivals Bowie's hot streak in the 70's. He was the first mainstream artist to celebrate dirty sex and dirty talk in music, without ever resorting to mysoginy.

I might be on my Pat Malone here, but if I had to choose between Prince and MJ, I'd choose MJ. Up until the early 1990s he released some terrific stuff. I like Prince's musicianship though. As for who was bat-shit craziest, I think you could make arguments either way.

MJ being a pedo puts me off him, plus his music as the 90's rolled on didn't have the same technical quality.

He wasn't really my style but the range his voice could cover was amazing. He was a freak.

I was always somewhere between ambivalent and a casual fan but his musicianship was undeniable. Great singer, amazing guitarist.

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

This has been doing the rounds but it shows what an outstanding guitar player he was.

Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others performed 'My Guitar Gently Weeps' at the 2004 Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Yep!! I love the Rodney Rude song from 20 years ago (which was quite prophetic, or based on something), 'Why won't Ralph Horris just f**k and die?'
