I know this isn't an entertainment thread, but... got home tonight and my house is flooded!! Much of loungeroom, laundry and some of spare room. My bedroom is one of few areas not affected..
anyone else cop it?

We got caught in it while driving through Knox. Large parts of the Burwood Hwy were completely cut off. Things turned to chaos pretty quickly with cars trying to drive through the water and getting stuck or going against oncoming traffic to get around the water.
Pretty crazy. I hope you haven't suffered much damage, Andrew.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

I'm sorry to hear such bad news, and I hope the damage isn't really as bad as it sounds.
Is it inundation from rain, or flooding from a creek nearby?
We are all just having terrible luck with the weather this summer, it's been brutal.
Hope everyone here is safe.
It's weird, you guys are copping the fallout from Anthony and Yasi, yet it's hot and dry (which makes a change) in Brisbane, go figure.

Thanks... water seems to have come in through the back and laundry doors, not the roof (benches and tabletops are all dry, and it stops about 3/4 of the way into the loungeroom). It'll be mainly carpet needing replacing, but still... I went to my mum's for tea, and after waiting for the rain to ease, driving just ten minutes home, the other side of the Sth Gippsland Highway was flooded for about 2km. On my side, there were about a dozen cars on the side of the road, I assume they broke down or something. Then I got home. I know there have been plenty worse off, but I've never had a flood, and was pretty shocked. Just kind of sat here for a while thinking "What the hell do I do about this?"... still not all that sure to be honest!

Never really been through this, so it's bad in my view ... don't have a huge house, and there's water through a lot of it, but I don't think any structural type damage. I think the water has just streamed in through the back sliding doors and laundry, my backyard although not very big, is on a bit of a slope, and the sheer amount of rain over the evening has just gushed through, I think.

I copped it. all along one side of the house water coming through the light bulb points laundry flooded, hallway, spare bathroom and half my sons room
bit concerncing as have some water bubbles pooping up in the ceiling and in corners of the plaster. may also have a few tiles that have slipped or maybe completely blown off
The street outside my house was a fast flowing river for about an hour. First time that's happened since '93'.
On a brighter note I am currently building a house and have a 106,000 Lt tank. It has only been connected to the guttering for the last 2 months and it's already full.
Just woke up. Havent look on the roof yet. AM hoping no tiles are gone astray or slipped. second bathroom is a little concerning with lots of water bubbles and water stained ceiling
So far we have been lucky as in the inside of our house is still dry (touch wood). We have a water tank issue that when it fills it overflows, so the cat enclosure is a swimming pool. Have been on the waiting list for MONTHS now with the Plumbing Industry Commission, waiting for them to come & inspect. That's dodgy builders for you.
But we are lucky compared to others, I've had a few friends whose houses flooded last night. I wish everyone affected all the best.
On inspection of the roof from the man hole and from outside, I'm thinking the leaks came from the electical pipe. and possibly just water seeping under the tiles from the high winds during the rain
