    Pubs and Bars

Even though this is not related to Music and Entertainment I thought I'll start a thread up about some good pubs and bars Woofers have been to and it might help some people who don't have Foxtel for a place to watch the Bulldogs play.

Seamus O Toole Irish Pub in Knox Ozone on Burwood Highway, Wantirna is a pub Ive been to quite a lot lately. Probably not the best pub ever but always good to go down for a drink from time to time. I also recommend the Irish's parma which has been rated by parma.com.au as the best Parma in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs.

The Elgin on Burwood road is my local. It has a little pub TAB and screens on both sides of the room showing both games (when two are being played).

From my experience, the food is very hit and miss. The parma is poison, though the pizzas have been OK when I've given them a go.

Not a bad vibe though. Have occaisionally seen a couple of the Hawks players in there.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

He is another place you might like to try jeemak: The Harp Road Hotel on Harp Road, Kew. Went there for my Birthday on Tuesday for lunch. The Parma there was great the chips were ok but not the best ive had and the salad was very good. One downside to the Harp would have to be the service. Was waiting quite a while for the food to come out and it wasn't very busy.

Grand View Hotel on Pearson St Brunswick West. Good-sized screen and bugger all competition for it. The owner loves the footy and has a screen with one game on one side of the pub and another game on the other side. I recommend it, good meals too and craft beer on tap which I personally like. I sometimes meet up with WOOF posters there.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Still have never been to the SD in my entire life. As a bastion of Eastern suburban averageness, I feel I should have at least once.

Me either, as one of those bastard things of the western suburbs I don't feel so bad.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I think I've been once. I believe it was between a wedding ceremony and reception, and I wasn't drinking. You didn't miss much.
Wake me up when we get to heaven, let me sleep if we're going to hell

Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath

And we all found heaven - 2016 Premiers!

                          It's behind a paywall Easty.

FAMOUS MELBOURNE IRISH PUB SET TO CLOSE
                            Posted on May 22, 2019

KNOX'S FAVOURITE IRISH PUB IS EXPECTED TO CLOSE WITHIN TWO WEEKS UNLESS A LAST-MINUTE DEAL CAN BE STRUCK ON ITS RENTAL NEGOTIATIONS.

THE SEAMUS O’TOOLE’S IRISH PUB, FONDLY KNOWN AS 'THE IRISH' OR 'THE RISH' OPENED IN 2002 AS PART OF THE KNOX OZONE PRECINCT.

According to the Knox Leader, the pub will be closing in the first week of June following a breakdown in rental negotiations with Westfield Knox.

It is believed that management is seeking a discount on their $60,000-a-month rent to remain open.
The pub - known for its Monday night industry drinks, weekend parties and food - will be holding an event called 'The Last Goodbye'.

The event, which was created by a regular pub-goer, is scheduled for May 27th, and already has close to 2,000 people listed as attending.

"The news has brought a shock to us all who’ve grown up loving this “Little Local” but we all know every journey has an end and the Rish has reached the end," the event page reads.

"So let’s all come on down and say one last goodbye in a epic night out! 'GO HARD, OR GO HOME!'"
The Knox Leader claim that the pub's management is holding final negotiations with Westfield Knox. An outcome is expected at the end of the week.

I just read the last chance bar is also going to close, the rent has killed off a lot of live gig pubs in recent years.
                              Bring back the biff
