Good pick up with the replacements as well - I actually quite like a bit of Paul Westerbergs solo stuff as well. Husker Du. Nice. Archers of Loaf I forgot, but when they broke up (after 'All the nations airports') it was the right decision! My first born still bops around when I put on 'The Speed of Cattle' though - and I will insist till I die that it is due to its high rotation at home when she was in the womb.
I remember Horsehead, but wasn't overly into them at the time. I still have gret memories of seeing FEL, often at the Punters. They're playing a gig at the Tote in April but I'll be working in Geelong.
It's bloody hard to do the list, even now I realise I left out Beasts of Bourbon, amongst others. Westerberg's solo stuff is hit and miss but the hits are often magnficent. Archer's time was up, but I'm disappointed i never saw them live though. Maybe they'll get em back together for a Don't Look Back tour, doing Icky Mettle or Vee Vee, that'd be cool.

I also feel a bit odd that there's not that much current stuff in there, but I'm just not finding much that really inspires me lately, although that may have as much to do with the lack of funds to randomly buy CDs these days too.

In regards to Husker Du, I really loved Bob Mould's albums he put out as Sugar in the early 90s. I think he might have an albuim out now.

The album Bagonwagonese from Teenage Fanclub would have to be one of my all time favourites.
I'm inspired, I might do my own A-Z soon.

I swapped Bob Mould a cigarette for one of his guitar picks once.

I had an Australian A-Z and an international A-Z written out and ready to post a few days ago. Pressed 'submit reply' and the ****ing computer froze then crashed. I used swear words that day that havent even been invented yet!

Harem Scarem (how did they never become the best band in Australia?)are coming up at the Corner at the end of March. Picked up my ticket on saturday and got the reissued CD of 'Pilgrims Progress' today. I'm a very, very happy man.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yeah Mould has a new album out. I dug Sugar too, but nothing touches Husker Du. Zen Arcade is a masterpiece, a double album recorded and mixed in 72 hours.

Bandwagonesque may well be the album that completely turned me around at 15 years old. Much more influential on me than Nevermind which came out around the same time.
I have to say the A-Z thing is hard to do, i actually thought quite hard about it and still missed some. You also end up with 20 bands for one letter and then hit O or U and come up with nothing.

One of the highlights of my life. He was on stage at a pub in Melbourne and asked me if I had a smoke and handed me the pick while he lit it. I went to hand it back and he told me to keep it.

I like that you picked out the Dead Milkmen, they get written off as an 80's novelty band, but they were as influential to me as any band 10 times as talented.

Like the Hard Ons they just had too many great tunes to be a novelty band. I first fell in love with "The Thing that Only Eats Hippies"-No self respecting punk would have anything to do with hippies with all their free love crap and bloody combi vans. Bittchin’ Camaro, My best friend is a junkie , Sri Lanke sex hotel and[u] Punk rock Girl[/] in particular are favorites of mine.

And yes, I agree, but I'd just go with "Don't Wanna Know if you are Lonely" being just one of the greatest songs ever

                          That got me thinking

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I've just been revisiting Beelzebubba in the car the last couple of days. Stuart is possibly one of the funniest songs ever that stands up to repeat listenings. Sri lanka Sex Hotel and Bleach Boys too.
