We are in trouble - nowhere near it with the bat and out pace attack lacks any penetration.

Had a ball though in Cardiff yesterday. Way, Way, Way better atmosphere than at the MCG (sacrilegious) even despire full strength beer being served and the crowd having fun. No roid induced security throwing people out for making Beer Cup Snakes

338 in front 5 wickets in hand, would 400 be to much on this wicket ?

You'd think 412 is going to be too much on exposed form. I can't see us having the temperament to last the day out personally.

Two days, its doable, but we have to be patient plus the wicket is not made for making runs.

That innings from Haddin....how can you pick him for the second test after that? It genuinely looked like they'd given the bat to a bloke who had retired five years ago and let him have a crack at 10 balls for lunch interval entertainment. I would have genuinely considered us a chance at this before I saw how we played Ali in the first innings, the smart tactic must be to milk him for a constant 4 an over rather than bludgeon him for 7

We'll need patience and maturity from all of Warner, Rogers, Smith, Clarke, Haddin and Watson to get it done, and history suggest it's rare that all of them show these qualities simultaneously.

We can't have too many of the top order players getting to 30 and not going on with it. I'd think we would need two players to make hundreds to have a chance.

I think almost impossible for all to show patience and maturity. Be nice if we good get it from the top 4.

I wonder what my U/16 coach, who once threatened to nail my front foot to the pitch, would make of it?

The Cardiff ground has pretty short boundaries square too. And with the powerful bats they use some taps have been flying to the fence.

On exposed form I think we'd be struggling to make more than 200 in the 4th innings. We need big hundreds from Warner and Smith, with some support from the others.

It's a sad indictment that we know we can't rely on a couple of our veterans to grind it out in a tough situation to keep us in with a chance. It's even more obsurd when these very same players get selected despite poor extended form purely for the experience they bring.

if we bat like we normally do on a fourth day pitch we will do it. If we bat the way we have played most of this match it'll be over by tea and we can all go out.

I think we will do it. And Smith will get his test double century.

The bowling is just so inconsistent . They leak a boundary every over, whereas England bowled well and turned the screws in the pre-lunch session. The Aussies don't have the patience or temperament to even last the day.

Well, Steve Smith can certainly play a cover drive. Losing Warner in the last over before lunch may have been the killer.

And as I say that Smith goes out. We're pretty much dead in the water now. Can't see where we get another 311 runs from our bottom 8
