It's lack of patience, care and total arrogance

That is the shot of a B grade tail ender, not supposedly one of the world's leading batsmen.

I mentioned the same in the first test with Warner losing his wicket just before lunch on the 4th day. Warner, Clarke, Watson and Haddin seem determined to only play one way regardless of what is needed. It's frustrating to watch 'test' cricketers not make the most of good starts.

The scoreboard has been ticking over nicely and yet Warner wanted to up the rate even further.
Rogers is limited as a cricketer as a comparison to Warner but gee he puts some value on his wicket.

We need Smith to score a big century and for Rogers to go on with his good start.

Guys like Warner are over-protected and over-promoted wankers, and it's been the way of the Australian Test team for a long long time.

People continue to apologise for his rash behaviour on and off the pitch and this is the result.

Good start again from Rogers. He really needs to break his career trend and go on to get a big score.

Nice grinding 50 from Smith so far. Not as easy as sinew of his recent scores but he's been patient and stuck at it.

His real job is to see off the new ball and work through the hard part that the other batsmen don't have the discipline to do. If he could cash in when it gets easy bed be a gun.

We'll get the usual spin " That's the way he plays".
Chris Rodgers puts a price on his wicket, but there is a few who play on their own terms

He's still a gun, and world class. He's just not elite in terms of world class openers because he doesn't take that next step.

Still, I think as he looks back on his career he'll probably rue a lot of missed opportunities, but he should be proud of his record of protecting his wicket and doing his job.

Others will remember the glorious centuries they scored, and forget the times they completely disrespected their wicket.
