They might serve up a spin friendly pitch as well.

I guess Steve Smith would then have to take a few wickets as well as score the most runs.

During the 2nd test David Lloyd mentioned the pitch at Edgbaston was very dry and former NZ spinner Patel had just taken 5 wickets in a county match.

        Do we bring in Fawd?

That is incredibly offensive and unfair.

                Ballance axed, Bairstow recalled

“For the third Test Ian Bell will move up the order to bat at three followed by Joe Root with Jonny Bairstow coming in at five,” Whitaker said in an ECB statement.

They just don't seem to understand what a #3 batsman is for. It's not a resting ground for the most out of form batsman in the team. Bell's been a quality player but it's time to stick a fork in his arse. He's done. He might eke out one or two more scores but he has lost his eye and his first movement now is across the stumps. Batsmen never come back from doing that
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Tour match must be starting about now. Test matches usually start about 2.30pm here from me memory.

England are missing a bit of experience aren't they. Would be ideal for them to have a player out there with over 8,000 test runs, 23 centuries (15 on home soil) and a plus-50 average in England. Shame there is nobody like that out there for them....
