Siddle is still in the squad and the natural replacement for Johnson. Patto will only play if Haze is rested. I really like an attack of Starc, Hazlewood and Siddle, much more balanced than what we've had. We've tried to use Josh as the work-horse he isn't. Siddle is a perfect foil for the two.

Siddle is also 30 and superfit. Has 5 years left in him - 35 seems about retirement age these days.

When are we next going to India or Sri Lanka? I can see Gurvinder Sandhu being a wildcard to make the next tour of the sub-continent with his ability to bowl fast-medium and off-spin, in the Funky Miller mould. Can hold a bat too for a tailender.

I can recall talking to Twodogs once about fielding and he mentioned something like that batsmen or bowlers need to be exceptional at
their craft if they can't be good in the field. We have very few great fieldsman at the moment and it's a reason why I was so keen for Bancroft to be in the first test and be used as a bat pad. Burns has been used there and hasn't looked right at all and had dropped a few chances.
