    Re: UFC 193 - Melbourne

I went, I'm a pretty big fan so it was something of a dream for me. Disgusting amount of dude broes and guys that "trane UFC" kind of ruined the atmosphere up until the main event (eg: a big discussion from the group in front about whether Joanna Champion or Letourneau was hotter, and the mexican wave, come on), but the fights were really good so it all balanced.

Ronda looked really, really hittable in her last couple of fights, it just so happened that her opposition was hot garbage and had zero for her on the feet. She also has a tendency (ego) to try to beat her opponents at their strengths (brawling with Correia the most notable example), which really hurt her in this fight. Her winged punches looked leagues away from Holm's whose footwork looked how it was supposed to when she came in.

Also any talk that BIG MMA fixed the fight is ridiculous. Rousey is a superstar and Holm is a largely anonymous 34 year old with a lot of wear on her tyres. Dana White looked close to tears putting the belt on her.

Great to see Hunto win. Bigfoot is absolutely finished without TRT.

Perhaps more positive was Whittaker's performance. Hall is so dynamic on the feet that I really thought he would catch Robert with something, especially given both prefer to keep the fight standing. He handled his range of strikes really well and showed a serious chin. Live I actually scored the fight 29-28 Hall but watching/reading back it was a clear win. He should get a big name opponent next time out (and probably the Dellavedova treatment from Fox Sports).

I warmed a lot to Whittaker. He's a pretty good, pretty dynamic fighter and he's grown up a lot as a personality since TUF. I look forward to seeing him fight again. Hall is a huge scalp, and I think he had trouble with Whittaker's aggression.

Where were you sitting HD? I have to admit, I was concerned about the dudebro factor, but I was down on the floor and certainly in my immediate area the people were really good.

Also, anyone concerned over whether LeTorneau or JJ was hotter wasted time and energy on that when they should've been watching a damn awesome fight.

We were on level 2 - I had promo tickets, so I actually couldn't believe people would go down so much money to come and have a debate that could have been had over Google images.

Bit of an upset win there. Not unhappy to see the Irishman beaten. Will do him good.

Both main event fights were quite extraordinary. Unbelievable performances by the winners.

And he has backed it up again, he got his backside kicked and in the after fight shenanigans he hasn't bothered to press charges

I don't think I've seen a more stupid finish to what should have been an otherwise massive advertisement for the UFC

Yesterday’s effort from Khabib and team was nothing short of pathetic. Way to take the high ground. Noticed the Navada commission are withholding Khabib purse, 2 millions for minutes of insanity. Really put a dampener on what was a dominant performance.

I’ve never watched more than a 30 sec clip of UFC so my view is only from news reports.

Surely McGregor isn’t an innocent bystander in all this.
With his trash talk prior and the incident where he was arrested for throwing a bin at the bus earlier this year?
More of an In Bruges guy?

McGregor has certainly paid for the bus indiscretion. It has literally cost him millions in lawsuits.
But he wasn't at fault yesterday. He even refused to press charges against the two members of Khabib's team to jumped into the cage and assaulted him (who were arrested and then released after Conor didn't press charges).

Trash talk prior to a fight happens at every single combat sports event. Its no excuse to jump out of the cage and turn the event into chaos.

The Lewis' comeback v Volkov was stunning.

That was probably the best card they've ever put on, such a shame that Khabib's camp had to go and Malice at the Palace it all up.

The guy who jumped in the Octagon and tried to king hit McGregor is actually a UFC-contracted fighter himself, so you'd assume he's cut and banned for life. Would be shocked if anything actually happens to Khabib though.

It's not my bag and when I heard about it the stories sounded all a bit WWE to me...…...but having seen the footage multiple times it's actually just a bunch of egotistical dickheads doing absolutely no favours for their sport.

It's a shame because from all accounts it was a great card of highly skilled and technical combat.
                                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
