Reckon it is about 30-50 runs short of really testing the Aussies. Still might be a tricky little chase if there are some early wickets.

No-one has successfully chased more than 105 in the fourth innings in a Test at Hagley Oval.

This is the 2nd Test ever played at the ground so not sure that stat means much.

Big 7 overs to come. Another wicket would lead to overnight nerves and anything can happen.

Ussie is my new favourite batsmen, he reminds me of a Gower, but makes more runs. His stroke play is so elegant.

Yep been my fave for a while. I can see Gower in some shots and Lara in some also, although he's got to keep it up for a while to be placed in that class. Damn he's impressive though, everything looks easier when he's on strike.

                        So we are 1/70?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Been a pretty good test match all round. I think we've batted very impressively even given the pitch flattening out, Burns and Smith played some very mature, no frills innings and its put us in the position we are now.

Bird taking wickets makes things interesting heading into the next series. Does it guarantee him a spot? I still think Siddle should be in there on pitches that do a bit

Cricket still refuses to make fans the priority in the sport, instead rigidly sticking to protocols. Australia need 16 runs to win but the umpires have taken the players off the field for a 40 minute lunch break. So everyone has to sit around waiting for the final 15 minutes of play to wrap up the match. Australia was given 3 extra overs or 15 minutes to knock off 30 to avoid the having to take lunch, not 30 minutes, or 45 minutes, but 15. A similar thing happened in the World Cup where they took a lunch break with a team needing about 3 runs to win the match.

If cricket was a private corporation the executives would be hounded out of the industry. How can a commercial enterprise be run like this?
