I understand that this game is in Geelong and it must be very exciting for the local inbreds up there that something vaguely interesting has happened in the district at last but I wish they'd shut up crapping on about Gary Ablett senior and junior.
Senior was a good player but he is a scumbag and junior is the most overrated player I have ever seen-if his name was Gary Jones then we wouldn't have to put up with the "will he or won't he come back to Victoria" all last year and we certainly wouldn't let him get away with only playing when he feels like it and not bothering if he doesn't feel like it. I often think that GAJ would be the absolute worst teammate to have (maybe Brendan Goddard shades him)
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
One thing I think would make T-20 cricket more interesting is, instead of bowlers each having 4 overs they got an allotment if 24 balls each and could use those balls any way they like. They could bowl all 24 in a row if they wanted or bowl 1 ball then someone else bowls one. They'd change the direction bowled from in a different way too. It wouldn't be at the end of six balls. Maybe bowl change ends after each 20 balks.
It would make the game a little more tactical and allow the fielding team to apply a bit more pressure. I'd like to see the 20 over game corrected a bit in favour if the bowlers, I know it runs totally against the way the game is promoted but I'd like to see the rules mucked about a bit in T-20 cricket.

In one of the competitions I played in when living in Bendigo they had 3 different formats that you received points for to determine the best 4 teams for the season that would then play off in the finals'
2 day cricket - teams could essentially bat for one day each and the highest score was the winner or potentially you could get a team out twice and get an outright win
One Day 35 Over game unlimited - where each team would bat for 35 but there was no limits on bowlers. One player could bowl 18 overs and another 17 if they were good enough.
One Day 35 Over game limited - same as above except there was a maximum of 7 overs per bowler.
One of the most fun competitions during the season was a double wicket competition. Bat for 4 overs and each player could bowl a maximum of 2 overs. If a batter was dismissed he would just stay as a runner for the remaining batter.
You had to take turns in the field and typically this would be played at a venue where there were 2 or 3 ovals available.
I found all these variations to be good for the game and there might be some merit with your suggestions although for TV games they need to get to their adds.
I think what you are suggesting would more for club or shield type games that aren't on the TV. Great for spectators at a game.

Personally i love the BBL now, it is great entertainment. I think CA need to adjust the scheduling so the best players play finals. It's mental that teams will lose players for the one day series during the finals

I have a pet theory that if you could find a game that Americans and Indians could both play then you could basically rule the World. That game is a form of cricket specifically a variation of T-20 cricket I reckon. Maybe double wicket cricket. I've played at a few clubs that had double wicket tourneys through the season and it is fun.
I like the 35 over game too. Giving two good bowlers that amount of time to apply pressure would be fun.

It's like an orgy of sport. It's like having the Football World Cup every year.

While I'm still not a fan of the BBL and think it's a version of the game that just threatens the standard of cricket overall I do acknowledged that it's popular with the fans.
How much of that is because of the import players that seem to add a bit to the games?

The players play a part. The big crowds.
And the network has bought in big time with new faces and a new style.
