Shame Renshaw couldn't get the double ton. Handscomb with 50 or more in every test he's played so far. You have to ask why it took so long to give him a shot.

I wanted Handscomb in as a keeper when we dropped Nevill.

      For mine...
      - Nevill is a test level keeper who can bat a bit. A good #8, ordinary #7 type
      - Handscomb looks very much a test quality bat who can keep
      - Wade splits the pair in both areas but for each is closer to 3rd than he is 1st. He bats a bit, #7 type and can keep, edges Handscomb for experience but that's something that can be gained.

I really don't like the Wade selection as he is neither a test quality keeper nor bat. I hope he bats well today.

Nice ton for Handscomb. Good to see some young guys in the team. Renshaw only 20, Handscomb 25, Cartwright 24

Cartwright really is military medium, I thought he batted quite well but this attack doesn't do it for me.

Cartright made the highest score of the summer for our batting #6:

            Marsh 26
            Ferguson 3
            Maddinson 22
            Cartright 37

Does he play on the subcontinent if we pick this same attack?

I'd guess no, as it seems Shaun Marsh seems considered a lock to come back. Im not sure I want him back in any form, it's time to move on. I'm not sure I'd consider Cartright an all rounder, and I'm not sure we desperately need one. I'm happy with the top 5 and very happy with our quicks and and passably happy with our spinners. Wade should stay. The number 6 spot is still up in the air, but it shows how bad the spot is when a debutant can knock 37 and easily top score for the summer.

Good day by the Aussies despite the long break. Lyon was bowling really well.

Wade was ill and Handscomb had to stand in as the keeper. He's a mile off as a keeper.
Renshaw had headaches and was off the ground.

                    They don't count those ones.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Good to see the Handscomb as a keeper questions can be put to rest.

Certainly has, you can't keep standing up for $#@% sake.

I feel a bit for Handscombe. It can't be easy on the back of minimal preperation to pick up the gloves and keep to two spinners. I know he has heaps of experience at first class level but this is just about the trickiest gig in wicket keeping. Two spinners, SCG. He's rocked up up the ground yesterday and it's "guess what?" No chance to prepare or centre yourself, just pull on the gloves and out in the centre.

I'm interested to see how he goes if he gets the gloves again today and they make it out onto the ground. He's had some time to think it through last night and get his game face on at least.

I heard on the ABC they went out to a Pakistani restaurant the other night, I wonder if the players went.

He's a part-timer, let's make no mistake about it. Even when Wade wasn't playing it was Sam Harper with the gloves over Handscomb
