I wonder whether Smith will delay his declaration longer than he normally would, just to make sure the ball is new at night?

Day-night cricket is a gamechanger for captains. It's like having to deal with sticky wickets back in the day.

We have to not get bowled out before we start worrying about when to declare!

Handscomb looks a long way off in the series to date.

Should his position be under scrutiny?

Yep, you'd have to think Maxwell would come in for him. He looks like a tailender trying to hold up an end. He couldn't hit the ball off the table forward of square.

It's looking like a silly decision to not enforce the follow on.

I wonder if CA pushed Australia to bat to draw out the contest to appease sponsors etc.
              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I'm not so sure about that. I think Smith would've been looking for a 350+ run lead with England to bat at night on a 4th day wicket. I would be terrified to see us chase 100ish total with a night session involved.

I think batting again guaranteed England would be chasing a big total and Australia wouldn't be chasing under extreme conditions. It also means more load for the England bowlers. Even wth hindsight I'd have batted again if I was Smith.

And given the current performance that concern is more than justified.

England have given themselves a genuine sniff. Need the tail to stick around again.

341 ahead, would have to be the biggest chase on Adelaide Oval for England to win.

9 down. Target currently 344. An extra 25-30 runs would be nice. I'm not banking on it.

Should be plenty of runs but getting bowled out so quickly means the ball will be 30 overs old for the night session which should make things easier for England.

Is Gaffney the worst umpire on the circuit? Or having a mare?
