Yeah they played well last night. Our total of 304 wasn't enough we were unable to defend it. Roy 180 for them was a strong performance and Finch for us 107 was great. Put the pressure on at the end but was a little too late. Now to see if we can redeem ourselves in the 2nd ODI.

The poms always had us last night. It felt a bit like they cruised past our total in first gear and they have left a few more in the gearbox.

How many ODIs are there this summer? However many it is it's going to be a long series.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I think we finished about 20 runs light on today especially given we went in with an extra batsman but it's great to have game one tormentor Jason Roy out early.

We finished with 270 and they are currently one down for 2 runs after the first over

More all rounders. We just don't have enough to bowl all our overs from Richardson, Tye, Starc and Stoinis, Marsh, White, Head, Finch & Smith. I suppose Carey could've bowled too in hindsight. Warner playing as a specialist batsman is crazy by the selectors.

We're in a fair bit of trouble not far out from a World Cup. Over the next 18 months we need to find a spinner, stabilise the middle order and work out who our keeper is.

There are stages in how you treat the cycle between World Cups. Immediately afterwards you transition out older guys, blood newer guys, have the side gel and then really get primed in the 12 months beforehand.

It still feels like we're figuring out who'll be on the plane, at a very late stage. England has been far better than us at the process this time around.

Seems as though the selectors are just cycling players from summer to summer and tour to tour without much of a plan.

By my poor memory, we've swapped keepers twice since the last WC. Then with the injury to Paine, Wade's been over looked.
I can't recall if Lyon's played since the WC, but Zampa gets put into the 13 player squad to have limited games. Has Agar got a few games also?
As for quicks we've used Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood, Tye, Richardson, Richardson, Sandhu, Stanlake, Pattinson if he was fit I'd guess, (9). I reckon I've forgotten at least a couple of quicks from the SA & NZ ODIs too. (Edit: Boland, Paris, Tremain, Mennine, Worrall, Abbott, Coulter-Nile).
For all rounders we've used White, Faulkner, M. Marsh, Maxwell, Stoinis, Christian. Watson if he didn't retire after the WC too.
Batters from Smith, Warner, Finch, Lynn (despite never really being fit), S. Marsh, Head, Khawaja, Bailey, Burns, Cartright, Hazlett, Handscomb.

Smith, Warner, Starc, Cummins & Hazlewood pick themselves. The rest of the squad seems like it's anyone's guess, depending on form to some extent.

Thanks mate. I still can't place him.

I googled him. Only 15 FC matches and 2 ODIs. Has an outstanding bowling average in FC cricket of 19.58. His domestic 50 over run rate is 2.44 and his actual bowling figures (15 matches, 25 @ 20.8) are pretty tidy.

Thanks to regular wickets Australia has been able to contain England so far.

The standard of catching in the national team and BBL Comp is shithouse.
