From what I see de Kock is giving as good as he is given at one stage his finger is in Warner's face. Warnet has an angry midget vibe about him and does get unnecessarily involved in a lot of stupid incidents on the field. It's like he has an hyperactive disorder
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It makes sense, I reckon a lot of top notch sportspeople have something like that in their make up.

Gerard is saying on SEN that de Kock was sledging Warner about his wife. It's not right but it's going to happen. It's going to happen a lot more now everyone knows they can suck Warner in with it.

Still I don't like having a finger waved in my face. I'd have lost it about then.

It's ok in Warner's mind to sledge Jonny Bairstow about his father (who committed suicide when Bairstow was a child) but he loses his mind when opposition players point out his wife's (allegedly) many previous 'sporting' pursuits. Weak as piss and not up to being in a leadership position.

At least Lyon personally apologised to AB for his idiotic action yesterday and copped his punishment on the chin.

I don't like any personal sledging at all. Forgetting the past, what was Warner to do, just take it from de Kock and not say anything?

If he can't respond in a measured and controlled manner then it's exactly what he is supposed to do. Are you seriously condoning the vigor of his response?

He's at his place of work there is no place for that sort of conduct and it's especially poor given he is regarded as a leader of this team

Rightly or wrongly sledging is a big part of the game and if you are going to partake in it and in fact be one of the more vocal guys then you can't play the 'they've crossed the line' card.

I agree, he's going to get nowhere if everybody knows what button to press. My main problem was the finger wagging. There are two things I don't like, someone wagging their finger in my face (personally I'd have snapped the *!*!*!*!ing thing off his hand) and being whistled at (you whistle at dogs, I'm not a dog).

I have no problem with what de Kock said (If it gets a reaction and puts your opponent off then yell it at the top of your voice-I've said some appalling things out in the middle at times), but he would have had a problem with me over the finger wagging.

Either don't get sucked in or put it in the bank and trot it out later. There are two tests to go. Plenty of time to get in his face. You might not like sledging but it's part of the game. (A very valuable part for old bastards like me who have trouble with the physical part but still loves to play. It means I can stand at short leg and giving a running commentary on all the batsman's little faults.)

I said personal sledging like talking about people's wives or dead fathers etc. I think they did cross the line.

A running commentary of batsmens faults is fine, but talking about your wife, and who knows what he said - I would get angry too.

Yeah after I'd written a response I noticed you said personal sledging instead of sledging, changed my post but forgot to point out that I'd changed it.

Racial sledging is no longer an option when not so long ago it was pretty common so I guess that cricketers have proved they avoid certain topics. But I just think that you will always get sledged about topics like your mum's appearance and sanitry habits to your own tawdry existence but you can't let it get to you, that's the whole point. In this case it's de Kock 1-Warner 0.

I must admit though that I can't see the point of sledging someone while your walking off the ground or even while Warner is fielding at all. You want him in that state when he's out in the middle batting, surely?

The sledging is totally out of order now . It’s gone from being a cheeky comment that’s funny , to personal insults .
Regardless of who started it or what was said , it’s time cricketers stopped behaving like cavemen .

It is too over the top now. They have to rein in the abuse. Cut it out like they did with racial taunts.

Cool! Will I be playing a test match or will the injury toll finally get so bad that they have finally arrived at my membership number?

Australia lose a wicket late in a session again. Bancroft out for a patient 38 and the 'suburban boy who dishes it out but cant take it' is 50no and has batted quite well.

Session to Australia but it was hard work.
