I think there is just the one position up for grabs and that is the opening spot alongside Khawaja. The rest of the lineup will remain as it was baring injury.

I don't think it can be Konstas unless he finds some amazing form to start the shield season. There are quite a few candidates and no stand out at this stage.

I agree Konstas needs to fine runs at Shield level.

I think ou have two spots up for grabs and whilst Khawaja will start the test series I am not convinced he will finish it in Sydney. Seems to have lost his mojo a bit and sure footwork and great judgement just aren't there.

Australia 7/190 defeat the West Indies 8/189 with 7 balls remaining in the first T20.

Mitch Owen with 50 from 27 on debut. JFM's diabolical form continues with 2.

Just watching the Australia A game and we shouldn't be sleeping on Jake Weatherald.

His game looks in excellent order at the moment, he's a career opener, is coming off big Shield runs on one of the hardest decks in the country and is an attacking opener which will ease some of the pressure on Usman.

I imagine JFM will make way for Tim David - apparently he was only called up as keeping cover for Inglis and was a late in after Short's injury.

Owen's knock could be really important, we're searching for guys that can bat 5 or 6 and if he shows he's more than an opener, he's every chance to push himself into the World Cup team.

Green and Owens knocks were very powerful. Greens first 3 scoring shots were 6's. They're starting to get a very capable team and just need to find a good bowler to help balance things out.

There are 3 fast bowlers that play in the test team that are pretty handy in T20s as well. I imagine they will still be our first choice bowlers at the T20 world cup next year.

Right on cue Weatherald made 183 in the second Aus A v Sri Lanka game.

I'm guessing the pitch and attack are fairly docile considering SL made 6/485 declared and Aus A are currently 3/376, but good form is good form.

McSweeney the only batter to miss out so far with 12. Patterson with 59 and Sangha 120 not out.

I've watched some of it; it's two pop-gun attacks bowling on a highway.

I like Weatherald and runs are runs, but I don't think this will have a big influence on selection. Great for keeping Weatherald's form going though.

I thought it was interesting they opened with McSweeney - the selectors still don't mind him there and want to make it an option.

Also, Jason Sangha is coming hard for a Test slot. It's amazing to think he's only 25 - he's finally over the mismanagement of his early years in the NSW Shield set-up and the future is bright. There's no better player to watch in the country.

Well we have some work to do. West Indies make 214 off their 20 overs.
Lets see how the batsman go.

A brilliant century from David and a very handy contribution by Owens get Australia over the line with plenty of balls to spare.
