I think the selectors will keep faith with Finch if he's fit. If he can't play, Burns is the logical choice.

Don't think Handscomb will survive the chop. I'd bring in Burns there too if Finch plays, otherwise I'd look at Kurtis Patterson. I think the selectors will bring in an all-rounder though.

I am in the camp that Handscomb must go.
Joe Burns is who i would choose.

I think that makes the most sense.

Finch won't be dropped other than if that finger injury doesn't recover

Patterson is an interesting suggestion, I would have thought there would be a couple ahead of him.

I would also bring in Burns for Handscomb and drop Finch down to 5 or 6.

If I had to put money on it though I would back Mitch Marsh to replace Handscomb if he gets chopped.

I think the selectors have backed themselves into a corner. They picked Finch as an opener based on his limited over cricket form and his test average, after an admittedly small sample size, would be in line with expectations in fact his batting averages are roughly the same in all forms of the game. Based on that I think he will be given more time to prove the selectors right and that he will most likely stay at the top of the order.

Is there any reason why Burns couldn't replace Handscomb at 5?

The selectors have gone with the same 14 man squad so unless Finch is injured it's most likely a showdown between Mitch Marsh and Handscomb

Australia has named an unchanged squad - Burns not called up to cover Finch.

You'd think that means the only possible change would be M Marsh for Handscomb if they decide the pitch is too flat for the 3 quicks.

Excellent performance. Set up with that great opening partnership on day one .
I’m not convinced on Finch opening here, but I’d be reluctant at this stage to move him to the middle order.
Sends mixed messages and not after such a good start
I’d say Marsh for Handscomb, who’s technique gets found out against quality pace bowling
