Third Test - Australia v India, Melbourne

There should be a huge crowd for the this one with the team evenly matched so far

Will Handscomb hold his spot in from of his home state fans or will Mitch Marsh be given the call up?

We need to make runs, can't see an all rounder coming in for a batsman
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

I think they will go for Marsh.
Handscomb isn't making runs, so you might as well play the extra bowling option, particularly if we are getting a pitch that offers little.

I tend to think this is the way the selectors will go but perhaps what might save Handscomb is his close in fielding expertise which is sadly lacking in our squad.

So the choice a specialist fielder and hope he makes some runs or a 4th string bowler and hope he takes a wicket and scores some runs.

With that sort of selection policy it is a miracle that we won a test at all.

I don't see how they can pick Marsh given his form - the whole idea of picking a home 'squad' has really hurt our flexibility.

Last chance saloon for Handscomb I reckon.

Indian side should be interesting. I think they'll play Pandya at 6 to help their bowling and be praying that Ashwin comes good. Choosing Jadeja in the squad while injured was a seriously odd call.

Why did we do that anyway? What's the logic in giving away our home country advantage and limiting ourselves to only 14 players to select from?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Looking forward to this test. Hopefully all the VICs will play well in front of a big crowd.

Form means nothing to the selectors otherwise he would not be in the 14 man squad.

I think it's to keep the squad together rather than players sneaking out to play big bash etc

Now if someone gets injured they do have the flexibility to bring in other players

On a side note, does anyone think Jason Sanga just needs a shield century to secure a spot on the next tour?

So its official, Mitch Marsh in for Peter Handscomb. The selectors are hoping that the inclusion of Marsh will lighten the workload on the 4 main bowlers.

There is also some speculation that Paine might bat ahead of Marsh as well.

I don't get the love for the Marsh boys.

Be very interesting to see how much Paine bowls Marsh. He's been reluctant to use him much in the past.
