On the flipside you can only play what's dished up to you, and if going out smashing an opposition when that's exactly what you should do then some satisfaction can be taken from the exercise - especially with a young team.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

True. But it's a small silver lining. I think I was referring to the totality of the summer. But some individual returns; Cummins (10 for), Starc (5 for), Burns, Patterson, Head and maybe Khamwaja with tons. Yep, they play who they play. But as a summer, it's been average at best. I hope the experience and class of Smith & Warner gels with the new set up and our young kids can have batsmen capable of playing long innings against good opponents around them as they develop.

        Thank goodness for that.

        Well played Usman.

Gives the selectors some real headaches. Harris may end up regretting not having converted one of those 50s

I agree, but I still worry about Burns in England. I think he is technically too loose, and tends to thrust his hands away from his body. He is a slips catch waiting to happen. I suspect that Burns may start the AShes with Warner, but Harris will finish it.

I think Lambuschagne has probably played himself out of the team, but will go on tour. Swapping him for Smith seems the most logical.

Langer has been proven to be 100% correct about this bloke - makes a whole lot of nice 20's and then throws it away.

He's had 6 tests in a row - pretty decent sample size.

Mitchell Starc obviously stung by recent criticism with ten wickets and man of the Match.

Sri Lankans were well below par, but the series may help the confidence of a few players and the team.

The English also seem to be struggling with another comprehensive loss against the Windies.

We might actually be an Ashes chance.
