Mike Ashley camp 'shown around Pride Park' as Derby County takeover interest grows
The former Newcastle United owner has been linked with a takeover of the crisis-hit Rams after selling the Magpies

Mike Ashley is still "hovering" around a potential takeover of Derby County as the Rams brace themselves for a critical week in the race to save the club's future.

According to the Telegraph's John Percy, Ashley's camp have been shown around Pride Park and have seen the club's training ground.

Sky Sports had claimed that Ashley's interest in the Rams was waning due to the complexities surrounding a deal for the Rams who have been in administration since September.

Not only are Middlesbrough and Wycome pursuing compensation from Derby over their FFP breaches, but there is also a deal to do with the stadium's owner Mel Morris.

But according to Percy, who was responding to a fan on Twitter, he is still showing interest.

Percy said: "He's still in there, hovering. His camp have also been shown around PP and the training ground. Obviously needs to make his move now as the clock is ticking (which may have been the plan all along)."

And Sun journalist Alan Nixon said earlier this morning: "Mike Ashley interest grows. But wants Morris to take less for the stadium and slash admin/legal costs. Then sort out rest. Appleby team still alive. Binnies? EFL would also look for ways to be in League 2 if liquidation happened. But currently better chance of a saviour."

The news comes as Derby prepare for a crucial week in the battle to save the club from liquidation after the EFL released a statement last week to say the club expects to run out of money by February 1.

And they have demanded as a matter of urgency, from the club's administrators Quantuma, how the Rams plan to fund the rest of the season.

There are also the claims from Middlesbrough and Wycombe to resolve with the EFL last week admitting they have written to all parties to suggest independent mediation.

Meanwhile, the Binnie family have also submitted an offer for the club that is not dependent on the outcome of the compensation claims from Boro and the Chairboys.
    RIP Derby.

Spent some time there. Nice place Derbyshire. Their ground is pretty slick.

Their cheating meant another club was relegated. Yep feel for the fans but not the club.

Mike Ashley is a piece of shit and they'd be better off suffering a quick death than have him inflict his own brand of perverted, cruel and unusual punishment on them.
          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

A 3-0 victory at Shrewsbury confirmed Wigan as the League One champions, while Rotherham’s narrow win at Gillingham sent them down

Wigan and Rotherham promoted to Championship, Plymouth miss playoffs

            - MK Dons win 5-0 at Argyle but miss out on automatic spot

            - Gillingham, Doncaster, AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexander all relegated

GVGjr would be a happy Wigan fan.

With the EFL Championship regular season reaching its conclusion, we look at the teams still in with a chance of earning promotion to the Premier League and how viewers can follow the action.

Fulham automatically promoted back to the EPL.

They did it the hard way. They easily could have had it all wrapped up with 2 or 3 games to go.
Still a move back to the Championship from what ended up being a very competitive League One is a good result.

By the way Easty, you missed Crewe Alexander as being demoted as 4 teams go down.

MK Dons should advance as they were brilliant all season but I'm tipping Sheffield Wednesday to get the last promotion spot.
