So this replaces the Champions League?
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

No not really, its nothing to do with UEFA. The clubs want more money and this is how they are doing it.

If you haven't seen Gary Neville it's well worth a look, he sums it up very well.

This would be the only league they play in.

So teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham for eg who aren't going to play in CL probably next season never miss out.

They wouldn't play in the Premier League anymore is my understanding.

Ha yeah it was nice. These are some of the same clubs that blocked the Newcastle takeover, now they want to abandon the very same league.

It's a pretty big deal : "They also reiterated Fifa's stance that players taking part in the Super League would be banned from all other competitions at domestic, European or world level and could be prevented from representing their national teams."

Would be good if they all join up to this league, get banned from domestic competitions, and slowly wither and die as people lose interest in the competition. But that's just my innate Bulldog dislike of 'big clubs' speaking.

They want to continue playing in the domestic comps but at this point the governing body has been very strong on saying we won't allow you to.

yeah they want to but at the same time all these clubs complain about overloaded fixtures due to Carabao cup and now they want to add 20+ games a season! Its just not feasible.

MUST responds to Super League proposal

Manchester United Supporters Trust has released the following statement in response to the emerging speculation about the creation of a European Super League.

These proposals are completely unacceptable and will shock Manchester United fans, as well as those of many other clubs.

A “Super League” based on a closed shop of self-selected wealthy clubs goes against everything football, and Manchester United, should stand for. To bring forward these proposals without any fan consultation, and in the midst of a global pandemic when people should be pulling together not serving their own selfish interests, just adds insult to injury.

When Sir Matt Busby led us into the European Cup in the 1950s, the modern Manchester United was founded in the tragedy and then triumph that followed. To even contemplate walking away from that competition would be a betrayal of everything this club has ever stood for. We urge everyone involved in this proposal including Manchester United to immediately withdraw from this proposal.

                            Manchester United Supporters Trust
"Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"

No dead right, and the resultant diminishment of interest in the domestic competitions will have a massive flow on effect for many.
