Will we try and leave ourselves about 18 to 20 overs at them under the lights with a new ball?

Some handy runs by Neser and Starc - this is fun

We'll done to Neser! He looked comfortable with both bat and ball.
Still wish he was mid 20's instead of 31, but maybe he can do a Ryan Harris for 3 years?

Yep, just another 5 over would have been enthralling to watch.

The selectors don't appear to be concerned about age of the team and I'd bet in Green was replaced it would be by the 31yo Mitch Marsh.

Based on form over a long period of time in the shield Neser was the logical choice so his age isn't that important given that he is likely just a capable back-up. It's probably very doubtful that he plays much for us again. Richardson offers us that younger bowling option and he was the preferred replacement although all that might change if Neser takes a 5 for
I can't see Neser replacing any of our bowlers unless they are injured.
Who would be the next players in the mix Steketee and Boland who are 27 and 32.

It will be interesting to see how we go today and if we can make them pay for nearly two days fielding in the heat.

Plus, there’s no reason the test team needs to be full of players that can play for 8-10 years. If they play for 1-3 and win us matches, awesome. It’s a tough team to get into and so it should be.

Test cricket and AFL are two very different things.

Different sports but form over age considerations typically is the right move for contending teams.

Should we have not enforced the follow on and had a few overs at them with a new ball and under lights?

I like the thought of England bowler's having to bowl every day of this test so far, and then having to bat last

Plus we can bat tomorrow and then declare and bowl at night then.
